men were killed in separate incidents late Friday night — two accidents and a shooting.

The night’s spate of fatal incidents started with a major accident reported about 9 p.m. on the Northwest Side.

Officers responding to the call found a mangled bicycle and an unconscious man. The man, later identified as Carlos Gonzales, 63, had serious head and neck trauma, police said.

Witnesses told police that Gonzales was riding south on Babcock. When he entered the intersection with Huebner, he was struck by a black vehicle, according to a police report. The vehicle had been traveling north on Babcock and was turning left onto Huebner when the accicers dent occurred, police said.

After the collision, the vehicle fled southwest on Huebner, according to the report.

Gonzales was transported to University Hospital. He died about 9:45 p.m., the report said.

About two hours after that call, police responded to another fatal accident, this one involving a pedestrian on the West Side at Texas 151 and Wiseman.

A 77-year-old man was killed just before 11 p.m. after he tried to run across the highway, police said.

A driver traveling on 151 didn’t see the man in time to stop before hitting him, according to a police report. The driver stayed on the scene and was not intoxicated, the report stated.

The 77-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been identified.

Shortly after 11 p.m., offiThree were called to the East Side for a shooting in progress. They found a 60-yearold man with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest in his car in the 200 block of Nelson.

The man was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. He has not been identified.

Police attempted to interview a passenger in the car, but the witness was deaf, and information gathered at the scene was limited, according to a police report.

Police found several cameras in the area that could have information leading to the shooter. Officers also found bullet casings in the yard and on the road toward New Braunfels Avenue.
