1. Classical music

Pianist, composer and singer Clarice Assad will be joining the Jazz Meets Classical ensemble for a concert including her Suite for Lower Strings, as well as pieces by Jobim, VillaLobos, Balentine and Nascimento.

2. Movie

If you think a movie theater should be a loud, profane place, “Hitman’s Wife’s

Bodyguard” is the summer sequel for you. It’s about 90 minutes worth of scrapping and shooting from Samuel L. Jackson, Ryan Reynolds and Salma Hayek — plus some A-list cameos — and not much else. Opens Wednesday in theaters.

3. Art

Ruby City is reopening to the public after being closed for more than a year because of the pandemic. The contempora­ry art space’s marvelous debut exhibit, “Waking Dream,” is still up and has been augmented with additional installati­ons by Isaac Julien and Margarita Cabrera. Opening Thursday. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays-Sundays. Free, but reservatio­ns are encouraged and can be made at rubycity.org or by calling 210-227-8400. Walk-ins will be accommodat­ed as long as the capacity cap has not been met.

4. Concert

The Aztec Theatre downtown is back in business with a concert by Blue October. The Texas rock band is known for its emotional mid-2000s hits “Into the Ocean” and “Hate Me.” Doors 7 p.m. Saturday,
