HOMES & COMMUNITIES

From SCENIC OAKS that the lots are much larger than say, Two Creeks, and the turnover is much slower in Scenic Oaks,” he said.

Hufstetler said it’s definitely a popular place to buy, but people tend to stick around once they buy there, so inventory available isn’t always high.

“There is not a lot of movement out of the neighborhood,” Hufstetler noted, since people truly enjoy living there.

Niche.com rates the neighborhood an overall grade of A – good for families, and also ranks it as one of the “Best Suburbs to Buy a House in San Antonio Area.” The site notes the median home value of Scenic Oaks as $373,400. Crime rates are low, and the site ranks the area an A for job growth, cost of living and rates of employment.

Hufstetler would describe the neighborhoods within Scenic Oaks each as similar to one another, all possessing large lots in gated neighborhoods in a style he describes as “Hill Country Classic.”

Scenic Oaks is also friendly and tight-knit. Just last weekend, they held a tree dedication ceremony to honor a member of the community for years of service, and the community event also signified the reopening of the community’s Scenic Oaks Property Owners’ Clubhouse to the public.

A unique and quaint Little

Free Library is also available to the public, where homeowners can “take a book, leave a book.” Located at the Clubhouse, books are available for both adults and children alike.

The neighborhood also offers a nondenominational Scenic

Oaks Bible Study sponsored by Stonecroft Ministries. To learn more, prospective Stone Oak residents can email biblestudy@ scenicoaks.org.

Scenic Oaks also offers a Community Events Committee, which was founded in 2017 and plans local events for holidays like Halloween and Christmas, among other community events. To offer support or ideas – or volunteer! — locals can email communityevents@scenicoaks.org.

Given the proximity and easy access to IH-10, one would expect Scenic Oaks to be noisy. However, Hufstetler noted, it’s much quieter than might be expected.

And, of course, he added, “that access to IH-10 and Boerne Stage Road is much appreciated.”

That’s because homeowners in Scenic Oaks are close to the

Rim, La Cantera, Boerne and San Antonio – and within a five-mile radius, there is all kinds of great golfing available for the golf aficionado.

Hufstetler said he sells mainly to families looking to upgrade their homesteads, gentleman’s ranches all the way up to exotic game ranches.

“If I had to describe Scenic Oaks in three words, I would choose ‘gated, guarded, family-centric,” he said, noting that he loves the area and only wishes there were more inventory available on a regular basis.
