When and where Texans can get the COVID-19 vaccine
Many locations offer walk-in access. We update this guide daily to give you what you need to know:
All Texans 12 and older are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Several providers now offer the Pfizer vaccine to children ages 12 to 15. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
If I qualify, where can I get it? Many clinics and pharmacies allow walk-ins or same-day appointments. The city offers text alerts about opportunities for appointments with public providers — to sign up, text Vaccine or, for alerts in Spanish, Vacuna, to 55000.
VIA Metropolitan Transit offers free rides to or from an appointment at a city- or countysponsored COVID-19 vaccination site. Check VIAinfo.net for the latest service updates.
These providers offer walk-in access:
CentroMed: Pfizer vaccines are available for those 12 and older at CentroMed’s clinic at 5439 Ray Ellison Blvd. A parent or legal guardian must accompany children and give consent. Walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, call 210-3343820 or go to www.centromed sa.com.
City: People can get vaccinated without appointments from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at the Alamodome drive-thru site at 100 Montana St., Parking Lot B. Metro Health offers the Pfizer vaccine to children 12 and older — consent from a parent or legal guardian is required. Adults can register for a vaccine wait list online in English at sanantonio.gov/waitlist or in Spanish at sanantonio.gov/ listadeespera. Or call 311 and select option 8; or 210-2076000 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Metro Health is running a series of “pop-up” vaccine clinics for the next eight days:
Today: 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Fiesta — Run to Remember, Wheatley Heights Sports Complex, 200 Noblewood Drive ( J&J); 3-5 p.m., Fiesta — A Day in Old Mexico & Charreada, Rancho del Charro, 6126 Padre Drive ( J&J).
Monday: 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Mission Marquee Plaza, 3100 Roosevelt Ave. ( J&J); noon-7 p.m., Southwest Workers Union and Texas Organizing Project, 1416 E. Commerce St. (Pfizer).
Tuesday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Pan American Library, 1122 W. Pyron Ave. (Pfizer second doses only); 1-6 p.m., Second Baptist Church, 3310 E. Commerce (Pfizer and J&J).

All week: Metro Health will offer J&J vaccines at the Fiesta Carnival from 4-8 p.m. every day through June 27 at the Alamodome’s Lot C, 100 Montana St.
Metro Health also will give Johnson & Johnson vaccines at A Night in Old San Antonio from
4-8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at La Villita, 418 La Villita St.
CVS: Most area CVS pharmacies have walk-in access. Sameday appointments as soon as one hour are available at CVS.com. Those without online access can call customer service at 800-7467287.
H-E-B: Check availability and book appointments at vaccine .heb.com. All H-E-B pharmacies welcome walk-ins without appointments from 9 a.m. to closing time Monday through Friday. Weekend walk-in hours vary by store. Children as young as 12 may receive the Pfizer vaccine.
San Antonio Military Health System: Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center offer the Pfizer vaccine to all beneficiaries 12 and older. Same-day vaccine appointments are available at www.tricareonline.com or call 210-916-9900 or 800-443-2262, option 8, from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian. BAMC also welcomes walk-ins on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. WHASC allows civilians who aren’t Tricare beneficiaries to walk in without appointments on Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to noon. South Texas Veterans Health Care System: Veterans, their families, their caregivers and all Department of Veterans Affairs employees can walk in without appointments and get vaccinated at Building 5 at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center, 7400 Merton Minter, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Johnson & Johnson vaccines are available for scheduled appointments and walk-ins at the following VA clinics during their normal hours — Balcones
Heights, North Central Federal Clinic, South Bexar, North Bexar and Shavano Park. If an appointment is preferred, contact the VA’s scheduling center at 210949-9702. Visit www.south texas.va.gov or the system’s Facebook page.
Texas MedClinic: Offering Pfizer vaccines to adults and children 12 and older at all Texas MedClinic locations in San Antonio, Bulverde and New Braunfels. Walk-ins accepted, appointments encouraged at texasmed clinic.com. Shots offered from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends. Children 17 and younger must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
University Health: Walk-ins welcome at Wonderland of the Americas mall’s upper level, 4522 Fredericksburg Road, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays through July 2. Children 12 and older can get the Pfizer vaccine. Until Tuesday, those 18 and older have the option of the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Walk-ins 12 and up also can get the Pfizer vaccine at the Robert B. Green campus, 903 W. Martin St., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays only. An adult family member or guardian must accompany those under 18 and provide written consent, but proof of age isn’t required. Details at www.wecandoitsa.com or call 210-644-1960 for information.
Walgreens: A total of 35 local Walgreens pharmacies will extend hours for walk-in vaccinations Fridays in June. Two of them, at 3065 Rigsby Ave. and 7423 Broadway, will give vaccines 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday. Another at 2710 Nogalitos will give vaccines 8 a.m.-9 p.m. that same day. A list of locations and times is at Walgreens’ online store locator .A parent or legal guardian must accompany and complete registration for children 12 to 17 getting the Pfizer vaccine. Same-day appointments available at walgreens.com/schedule vaccine or by calling 800-Walgreens, where English- and Spanish-speaking schedulers are available.
Walmart, Sam’s Club: Walk-ins accepted at all Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies, as supply allows. Appointments also can be scheduled online at walmart. com/COVID vaccine and at samsclub .com/COVID. The pharmacies offer the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
People don’t have to be a Sam’s Club member to get vaccinated there.
The following providers require appointments:
Baptist Health System: Offers the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines at specified hospital campuses. Appointments available on certain dates through July 7 at baptisthealth system.com/our-response-tocovid-19/covid-19-vaccine-reg istration. The Pfizer vaccine is available to those 12 and up. Anyone younger than 18 must have parental consent.
Comal County: The Comal County Public Health Department provides COVID-19 vaccines, including to children 12 and older; residents may schedule an appointment at co. comal.tx.us or by calling 830221-1150.
UT Health San Antonio: Now offering the Pfizer vaccine to those 12 and older. Schedule vaccines at www.uthealthcare .org/COVID.
How much does it cost? The vaccine is free, regardless of insurance status.
