Want to help those victimized by Hurricane Ida? Here are four ways
From nonprofits to private companies, Texans and San Antonians are coming together to aid thoseneeding it in the wake of Hurricane Ida. Here are four ways to help relief efforts.
Support the San Antonio Food Bank: It’s helping sister food banks in New Orleans. CEO Eric Cooper has said it will serve as a donation destination for food that will be shipped into the Gulf Coast. The food bank is seeking more volunteers in addition to monetary or food and water donations.
Send a text: The Red Cross is taking donations via text. Type “IDA” to 90999 to make a $10 donation. You also can donate online.
Help out the San Antonio Humane Society: The humane society has canceled normal intake while they take in pets affected by Ida. About 170 cats and dogs were transferred to the San Antonio organization last week. The rescued pets will be available for adoption once they’ve been cleared by veterinarians. The Humane Society is
offering a “Hurricane Ida Adoption Special” until further notice in an effort to find homes for the pets. Adoption fees will be cut in half, with some exceptions. In addition, the shelter is seeking help with supplies, ranging from pet food to beds and paper towels. For more information on how to help, go to its website, https://sahumane.org/
Lift up the United Cajun Navy: The United Cajun Navy is now
active for Hurricane Ida. The nonprofit group focuses on disaster relief and delegating no cost resources to those affected by events like hurricanes. The organization is in need of supplies including gasoline, water, child and adult clothing and generators. You also can donate money that they can use for aid or set aside time to volunteer with them at its website, https://www.thecajunnavy.org.
