OUR PICKS FOR WHAT TO SEE AND DO THIS WEEK

1. Stage

Classic Theatre kicks off its new season with Shakespear­e’s romantic comedy “As You Like It,” in which a woman on the run finds true love while disguised in drag. The cast includes Kacey Roye, Randee Nelson, Josey Porras and Campbell Reid Andrews. 2. Comedy

Through highs and lows, San Antonio comedy fans have always been there for boisterous stand-up comic Carlos Mencia, going back two decades to the Latino Laugh Festival. He once titled a special “Not for the Easily Offended,” which is probably still fair warning.

3. Movie

If you want to see something other than last-year’s superhero movies, “The Card Counter” may do the trick. Director by Paul Schrader (“First Reformed”), it stars Oscar Isaac as a gambler with a troubled history who is offered a shot at redemption. Opens Friday.

4. Album

If the title of Kasey Musgraves’ new album, “star-crossed,” calls to mind “Romeo and Juliet,” that’s by design. The Texas singer-songwriter has compared the Available Friday.

5. Concert

On his acclaimed new album “Gold-Diggers Sound,” Fort Worth’s Leon Bridges stretches out beyond the retro soul that was his calling card. Highlights include the dreamy lead track “Born Again,” which features jazz musician Robert Glasper, and the single “Why Don’t You Touch Me.” Doors 7 p.m. Friday, Aztec Theatre, 104 N. 6. Streaming

“Come From Away,” the powerful musical about people looking out for one another in a time of crisis, is coming to a device near you. The musical is based on the true story of the community of Gander, Newfoundla­nd, who cared for airline passengers stranded there for five days when their flights were diverted following the 9/11 terror attacks.
