Charles Richard Eyster, Jr. died peacefully at home on August 28, 2021. Richard was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 9, 1961 to Charles Richard Eyster and Agnes Christian Welsh Eyster.

He graduated from Alamo Heights High School, where he lettered in football. Richard attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Texas, San Antonio with a degree in Business Management. Because of his interest in, and talent for art, Richard began his career with the Sol Del Rio art gallery in San Antonio, Texas, where he supported local jewelers and metal craft artists. After a short stint in the oil field, he became interested in environmen­tal issues, and as a result began work for Third Coast Environmen­tal Services, where he specialize­d in municipal water systems and worked for over a decade. In 2009 Richard married Anne Campbell Howell, his one true love and soulmate for twelve happy and blessed years. They traveled and explored the U.S. and Mexico together, always on the lookout for unique works of art and fine cuisine. At home Richard loved nothing more than being with Anne, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Richard’s kind and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his wife Anne and beloved stepson Nathan Howell. He is also survived by his sister Maury Scales of San Antonio, Texas and her children Richard and Agatha; brother John Eyster and wife (Alyce) of Houston, Texas and their children Maggie and Georgia. He is also survived by his uncles, John Welsh of Corpus Christi, Al Eyster and wife (Sandra) of Georgetown, Texas; and brother-in-law, Trey Campbell of Temple, Texas A celebratio­n of Richard’s life will be held in the near future at St. Davids Episcopal Church, 1300 Wiltshire Ave., with The Reverend Brian Tarver officiatin­g.
