1. Classical music
The SOLI Chamber Ensemble kicks off its 2021-22 season with “Tableau,” a program inspired by “Frida Kahlo’s Oasis,” a must-see installation at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. The evening includes Aaron Prado’s adaptation of his 2015 piece “Ofrenda,” as well as Arturo Márquez’s “Zarabandeo” and the concert suite from composer Robert Xavier Rodriguez’s opera “Frida.”

2. Movie
No one knows for certain what became of Tony Soprano, but you can find out how he came to be in the “Sopranos” prequel, “The Many Saints of Newark.” Michael Gandolfini takes on the role that made his late father, James Gandolfini, a legend. Opens Friday in theaters and on HBO Max.
3. Dance
The Guadalupe Dance Company is celebrating it 30th anniversary with an outdoor performance spotlighting dances from the Mexican states of Guerrero, Jalisco, Oaxaca, Puebla, Tamaulipas and Veracruz. Mariachi Azteca de América will provide live music. The performance can be seen both inperson and via livestream.

4. Comedy
Comedian and actor Tim Allen has had one of the most successful stand-up-to-screen careers imaginable, with iconic movie roles in the “Toy Story” and “The Santa Clause” franchises, and a pair of long-running sitcoms, “Home Improvement” and “Last Man Standing.” More power to him.

5. Album
Western swing revivalist Asleep at the Wheel celebrates a milestone with “Half a Hundred Years.” Ray Benson welcomes back former members and special guests — including George Strait and Willie Nelson on “Take Me Back to Tulsa” — to mark the Wheel’s 50th anniversary as a touring band.

6. Live music
Nina Diaz, formerly frontwoman of the great S.A. band Girl in a
Coma, returns home for a solo show. She has been getting a lot of love for “No Action,” her contribution to “Spanish Model,” a
Spanish-language reimagining of Elvis Costello & the Attraction’s new wave classic “This Year’s Model.”

7. TV
“Saturday Night Live” returns for its 47th season with a Texas twofer. Dallas native Owen Wilson, who appears in Wes Anderson’s upcoming movie “The French Dispatch,” is the host. The musical guest is Mineola-born singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves, who just released a new album, “Star-Crossed.”
