Oklahoma knocks No. 12 Arkansas from unbeaten ranks

TULSA, Okla. — Elijah Harkless scored 21 points and Oklahoma handed No. 12 Arkansas its first loss of the season, frustratin­g the Razorbacks’ coach and top shooters in an 88-66 romp Saturday.

Playing at a neutral site less than two hours from both schools, Oklahoma (8-2) rushed to a 13-0 lead in the first 4:37, helped by two 3-pointers and a drive by Harkless.

Arkansas (9-1) never caught up and coach Eric Musselman was assessed two technical fouls and ejected with 3:30 to play. He was restrained by his assistant coaches while arguing with an official, and Jordan Goldwire hit four free throws that made it 76-57.

JD Notae, who had been leading the Razorbacks with nearly 19 points a game, was held to 13 on 3-for-14 shooting.

Davonte Davis scored a career-high 26 for Arkansas.

Tanner Groves had 16 points, including a 3-pointer that pushed OU’s lead to 69-57 with 6:02 left.

NO. 8 KANSAS 102, MISSOURI 65

Ochai Agbaji scored 21 points, Christian Braun and Dajuan Harris had 13 apiece, and the Jayhawks roared to a victory over the Tigers at Lawrence, Kan., in the first meeting of the longtime Big 12 rivals as nonconfere­nce foes.

David McCormack added 11 points and Remy Martin 10 for the Jayhawks (8-1), who have won eight of the past nine games in a series that began in 1907 but hadn’t been played since the Tigers departed the

Big 12 after the 2012 season.

Javon Pickett led sloppy, poorshooti­ng Missouri (5-5) with 19 points.

Robert Glasper scored 21 points and Johnny Hughes III had 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Cardinals (2-8) won at home.

Danya Kingsby had 20 points for the Tigers (3-7).

NO. 18 AUBURN 99, NEBRASKA 68

Playing minus suspended coach Bruce Pearl, the Tigers had 16 steals and routed the Cornhusker­s at Atlanta.

Pearl began his two-game suspension imposed by the NCAA on Friday. Auburn was placed on probation for four years for unethical conduct involving former associate head coach Chuck Person. Pearl was penalized for failing to monitor his assistant and adequately promote compliance.

Assistant coach Wes Flanigan, who served as acting coach, said the Tigers made a “big-time statement” with the runaway win.

Smith had 21 points to lead

the Tigers (8-1).

Nebraska (5-6) trailed by 21 points in the first half and again in the second half before cutting the deficit to 55-41 with a 7-0 run.

Ryan Hawkins scored 19 of his season-high 25 points in the first half and the Bluejays beat the Cougars at Sioux Falls, S.D.

Creighton (9-2) built its lead to as many as 20 before the break, helped by Hawkins’ four 3-pointers.

E.J. Liddell scored 28 points and the host Buckeyes cruised past the Badgers.

The Buckeyes (8-2) outscored the Badgers by 13 points in the

second half.

Johnny Davis led the Badgers with 24 points. The loss halted Wisconsin (8-2) at six consecutiv­e victories.

Gabe Brown scored 15 points and Marcus Bingham Jr. had 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Spartans to a win at East Lansing, Mich.

The Spartans (9-2, 2-0 Big Ten), who have won four straight games, are off to their best start since the 2017-18 season, when they started 14-2.

TULANE SHUTS MEN’S HOOPS AMID VIRUS OUTBREAK

Tulane is temporaril­y shutting down its men’s basketball team because of a COVID-19 outbreak.

Tulane in a statement released Saturday afternoon said the Green Wave is canceling upcoming games against Texas A&M on Dec. 14 and Grambling State on Dec. 18.

DeYona Gaston led a balanced attack with 19 points, Latasha Lattimore had a double-double and as the Longhorns coasted to victory at Austin.

The Longhorns (7-1) closed the first quarter with a 15-3 run for a 26-16 lead and closed the second quarter with 11 straight to make it 48-26 at the half.

Lattimore, a freshman, had career highs of 12 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double.

Tiana Johnson scored 12 points for Idaho (1-7).

TEXAS-RIO GRANDE VALLEY 62 INCARNATE WORD 57

Sara Bershers had 27 points and seven rebounds to lead the host Vaqueros over the Cardinals.

Jaaucklyn Moore led Incarnate Word (3-4) with a gamehigh 30 points.

NO. 3 CONNECTICU­T 71, UCLA 61

The Huskies struggled again without star Paige Bueckers but managed to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time since 1993 by holding off the Bruins at Newark, N.J.

Dorka Juhasz shot 5 of 5 for 16 points with 16 rebounds and Evina Westbrook added 17 points for the Huskies (6-2).
