1. Food & drink
Chefs from San Antonio, Mexico and across the U.S. will compete in the Paella Challenge to produce the best version of the classic Spanish rice dish. 2. Jazz
Pop jazz superstar Kenny G got his start with Barry White's Unlimited Orchestra in the mid-1970s. This jazz and pop instrumentalist became a sensation with his “Duotunes” album and hit track “Songbird.” With hit albums including “Breathless” and “Miracles: The Holiday Album,” he is the bestselling instrumentalist or all time. Last year, Kenny G released a new album, “New Standards,” and was the subject of the documentary “Listening to Kenny
G.”

3. Stage
The Public Theater of San Antonio is opening “35mm: A Musical Exhibition” after a delay prompted by a spike in COVID-19 cases in January. The show weaves together projections of photographs with songs expanding on the images. The gifted Rick Sanchez directs the multimedia show.

4. Movie
“The Lost City” may be the escape everyone needs right now. Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum star in the comedy adventure that finds a romance novelist and her cover model in deep in the jungle in deep peril. And yes, “Romancing the Stone” fans, there is hidden treasure to be found.
Opens Friday in theaters.
5. Experimental music “Overnight Sound: A Sonic Slumber Party” will feature more than 12 hours of continuous ambient and experimental electronic music. Those who go can stay as long as they wish, and they can bring along sleeping bags, blankets or bean bag chairs to zone out in. It is part of Contemporary Art Month and the kickoff to MuTeFest 5, the University of Texas at San Antonio's music technology festival. 6 p.m. Saturday, Mercury Project Contemporary Art Space, 538 Roosevelt. 6. Country music
The Randy Rogers Band is working on a new album, so fans can expect to hear new music, like the recent single “Picture Frame,” when they return to Floore's. The nostalgic song was produced by Radney Foster, who also produced the band's first major label album, “Just a Matter of Time,” in 2006.
