4 medalists in line for top honors

Boys Swimmer of the Year finalists EVAN CROLEY
School, class: Clark, soph.
Events: 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke.
Highlights: Croley captured bronze at the UIL Class 6A state championships in the 100 freestyle with a time of 44.11 seconds. He nearly earned another medal after finishing fourth in the 100 backstroke in 49.04.
CONNOR FOOTE
School, class: Alamo Heights, senior. Events: 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle relay.
Highlights: The Texas A&M-bound Foote broke two meet records and earned three medals at the UIL Class 5A state championships. Foote won the 100 butterfly in a time of 46.09, a state meet record for all classifications. Foote also won the 100 backstroke in 47.71 to defend his state title in that event.Foote earned a bronze by swimming the lead leg in the 200 freestyle relay with a split of 19.88 to set a meet record in the 50 freestyle. Foote is the meet’s record holder because he clocked the split as the lead leg in a relay, a standard practice in high school.
Girls Swimmer of the Year finalists CARLI CRONK
School, class: Churchill, soph.
Events: 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle. Highlights: Cronk earned a bronze at the UIL Class 6A state championships in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.85. She also placed fifth in the 500 freestyle in 4:54.76.
JADA SCOTT
School, class: Johnson, junior.
Events: 100 freestyle, 200 individual medley.
Highlights: Scott won four medals, including her first gold, at the UIL Class 6A state championships. Scott won the 100 freestyle in 49.61 and finished second in the 200 individual medley (2:00.09). She teamed with seniors Michelle Parsons, Elsa Musselman and Mikayla Moore for bronzes in the 200 medley relay (1:44.00) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:34.92).
Boys Diver of the Year LANE STALLWORTH
School, class: Clark, senior.
Highlights: The Arizona State signee finished second at the UIL Class 6A state championships with a total score of 524.10 points. He was edged by Jacob Jones of The Woodlands (525.50) for the gold. Stallworth had a strong finish after placing eighth in preliminaries.
Girls Diver of the Year
EMMA HAINES
School, class: Boerne Champion, soph.
Highlights: Haines finished fifth at the UIL Class 5A state championships with a score of 332.85 points. She made big improvement after placing 11th in preliminaries.
Coach of the Year ALBERTO ESCALANTE
Team: Boerne Champion girls. Highlights: The Chargers finished fourth in the UIL Class 5A team division with 121 points. Boerne Champion won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:32.19 behind the efforts of senior Paige Clark, junior Regan Garcia, freshman Kate Deykin and senior Peyton Brehmer. The Chargers earned a silver in the 200 freestyle relay with Clark, Garcia, Brehmer and sophomore Emma Seward.
