Pearl Market fave Beignet Stand to open restaurant soon

Pearl Farmers Market favorite The Beignet Stand plans to open its first brick-and-mortar restaurant April 20 at the former Baby Taco Garage on Broadway just inside Loop 410.

The husband-and-wife ownership team of Michael Grimes and Elisa Treviño plans to have the new restaurant open for breakfast and lunch Wednesday through Friday at opening, limiting their hours so they can continue running their popular beignet concession at the Pearl Farmers Market on Saturday and Sunday. They hope to add weekend hours at the new location by the end of summer.

On Broadway, the menu will include classic and cinnamonsugar churro versions of the venerable New Orleans pillow of fried dough, along with specialty versions including honey butter, blueberry, strawberry, Nutella, chocolate and seasonal variations. They’ve also made room for a breakfast beignet sandwich, a beignet burger and a fried chicken beignet sandwich.

Along with traditional drip coffee, the coffee options will include cafe au lait and an orange blossom latte, all available iced or hot.

While there’s no inside seating at the small building next door to the newly opened Wild Barley Kitchen & Brewery, The Beignet Stand will offer drivethru and walk-up service, and there will be a handful of picnic tables on a side yard.
