CLYDE WALTER ROBINSON

Clyde Walter Robinson went to be with the Lord on April 22, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 92.

Clyde was born to parents, Clyde Fred Robinson and Zola (Mears) Robinson in Ruffin, Colleton County, South Carolina on October 11, 1929.

Clyde enlisted in the Army in 1947 and served with that Department for 10 years. In the early 1950’s he served as a medic in the Korean War. During his assignment he was activated to serve on a U.S. vessel that returned wounded expatriate­d U.S. soldiers halfway around the world for repatriati­on. Clyde also served in Europe in the mid 1950’s on an accompanie­d tour in New Rochelle France while living in the beach town of Chatelaill­on Plage. When the Air Force was launched Clyde enlisted there serving assignment­s at Reese AFB Tx, Elemendorf AFB AK, Carswell AFB TX from which he retired after serving a 20 year career within the Department of Defense.

Most of Clyde’s career was in the field of laboratory science and he served as NCOIC of the lab or as a technician while enlisted. He attended college and though not degreed was clearly an expert in the field of toxicology. He was listed as a co-author on highly technical laboratory articles along with PhDs in the field. On occasion he was called to serve as an expert witness in court cases. Clyde continued working in that field after military retirement initially at Santa Rosa Hospital while working also in Federal Civil Service at Brooks AFB, Lackland AFB, and Fort Sam Houston until his retirement in 1996. His military and civil service careers spanned almost 50 years. Clyde was an active member of Marbach Christian Church for many years. He participat­ed in bowling leagues and got enjoyment on traveling leagues within the city. He loved his yard, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed bringing fresh vegetables to the table and sharing them with friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his sons, Keith Walter Robinson, Craig Robinson (Chicago IL) and Kirk Robinson (Martha) ; grandson, Marley Clyde Robinson (Dalena Ngyuen) and cousin who is like a sister Nadine Lawson.

A Visitation will be held, on Wednesday May 11, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Marbach Christian Church, 8023 Marbach Rd. San Antonio TX 78227. Interment with Military Honors will be held on Thursday May 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio TX 78209.
