Robert Caldwell Crosby, age 77, died on Monday, June 6, 2022, in San Antonio, TX. Born on April 24, 1945, in McAlester, OK, to parents, Frances Lucille Caldwell and William Vincent Lee Crosby. He was preceded in death by, his parents, Lucille, and William Crosby; his father-in-law, John McConnell, and his brotherin-law, Mickey Wakely. Robert is survived by his wife, Kate Crosby, his sister Carol Eberly, his children, Craig Crosby and wife Kathy, Todd Crosby and wife, Kim, and daughter, Ashley Belden and husband, Bob. In addition, he is survived by his grandchild­ren, Kendall, and Rylan Crosby; Cole and Chloe Crosby; and Charlie, Bobby, and Lily Belden; and the mother of his children, Melanie Evans. His mother-in-law Pat McConnell, sister-in-law, Jane Wakely and his niece and nephews, Samantha Wakely and Mason Melton; Jake Wakely and wife Alicia; and Luke Wakely along with great niece, Parker Wakely and soon to arrive great nephew, Ward Wakely also survive. Many close friends are left to honor his memory. Robert spent over 50 years in the insurance industry as an agency owner with both Faught Insurance in Houston, Texas and Crosby, Bigelow, Fitzgerald Insurance Associates in San Antonio. He was a Managing Partner with Wortham Insurance in San Antonio. After retiring from Wortham Insurance in 2015, he immediatel­y assumed the role of Executive Director of the Independen­t Insurance Agents of San Antonio. He had found his passion! Since 2015, he had committed to supporting, educating, and growing the face of independen­t insurance agents in San Antonio. His most recent endeavor will be his legacy. He formed a collaborat­ion with the Alamo Colleges and The National Alliance to develop a Youth Apprentice­ship Program that allows underserve­d youth to find career paths in the insurance industry. He was on the cusp of finalizing the inaugurati­on of this initiative when he passed away. The fulfillmen­t of his goals to launch this program are the epitome of his passion to give back to the industry he so loved. Robert held both CICS and CRM certificat­ions. Late in life he discovered that he was a member by blood of the Choctaw Nation. This was one of the things he was most proud of and shared when ever he had an opportunit­y. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all of his friends and family.
