Robert Edwin Icenogle, 83, of San Antonio, Tx passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023 at his home. He was born on August 20, 1939 in Macomb the son of Clement & Eleanor Grandt Icenogle. He married Twila Heikes Icenogle on December

IL. She survives, along with four sons, Anthony (wife Stephanie) Icenogle of Austin, Tx; Vincent

(wife Jennifer) Icenogle of Omaha, NE; Victor

(wife Jenny) Icenogle of San Antonio, Tx; Richard Icenogle of San Antonio, Tx; six grandchild­ren, Stefan Icenogle, Robert Icenogle, Nick Icenogle, Jen Low, Michael Icenogle and David Icenogle; and six greatgrand­children, Caroline Icenogle, Evan Icenogle, Luke Icenogle, Colin Icenogle,

Lily Low, and Keira Low.. One sister; Carol Icenogle Ashbacher (husband Richard) of Davenport, IA, survives, along with one brother, Roger Icenogle (wife Judy) of Winslow, MA. Two sisters-in-law, Carol Icenogle of Auburn, AL and Karen Icenogle, also survive, as do many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by three brothers, David Icenogle, Paul Icenogle and Alan Icenogle, and by one sister-in-law, Joann Icenogle. He entered the USAF as an airmen second class in 1958 and served with great distinctio­n. In February 1969, he graduated from Officer Training School, first honor graduate in a class of 692. During his career, he served all over the world, including 6 years in Germany, two years in Vietnam and one year in Korea. Among his many medals and awards in December of 1971, he was awarded the Distinguis­hed Flying Cross, which is the highest flight award in the United States military. It is particular­ly notable and rare because he was not a pilot. He retired from the USAF in 1980 as a Captain. During his time in the USAF, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Robert was an avid golfer, carrying a single digit handicap most of his golfing life and recording three holes in one. He loved sports, traveling, his country and most of all, our Mom. Funeral services will be held at July 20th, 10:00 AM, at Trinity Methodist Church with Rev. Federico Perez, Jr. officiatin­g. Interment will be held at a later date.
