Both movies open in theaters on Friday.
5. Celebration
The Briscoe Western Art Museum is holding its annual National Day of the Cowboy, a day of free activities aimed at all ages. This time around, there will be roping demonstrations; readings about Mary Fields, the first Black woman stagecoach driver, and Cathay Williams, the only known female Buffalo Soldier; live music; and chuck wagon cooking. Be sure to check out the museum’s must-see summer exhibit, “Southwest Rising: Contemporary Art and the Legacy of Elaine Horwitch.” 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Briscoe Western Art Museum, 210 W. Market. Free, briscoemuseum.org.
