Sharon Elizabeth Sheriff, age 77, was reunited with her eternal family in heaven on, October

11, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Sharon is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Bertram Sheriff, her daughter Kristin Strawn (Jay), son Brett Wade Sheriff, grandchild­ren Kenny Strawn, Savannah Strawn, and Jack Sheriff, and sister Barbara Wade (Randall Roberts).

Sharon was born on January 29, 1946, to Naomi Johnson Wade and Calvin Wayne Wade in Memphis, TN, where her father was in the U.S. Navy. After graduating as salutatori­an from Dumas (Texas) High School, Sharon met the love of her life, Robert Bertram Sheriff, at Baylor University in August,

1964 and they married on Baylor’s campus on May 28,1966. Their marriage was centered around their

Christian faith and living out their faith through action. They built lifelong relationsh­ips as members of Trinity Baptist Church from 1973 until 2007 and at Woodland Church since June 2007.

Sharon graduated 15th in her class at Baylor with a degree in English in 1968. She followed

Bob in his career to Philadelph­ia and then to San Antonio, TX, where she began a career with North East Independen­t Schools teaching English. While working full time, she attended night school at UTSA for a master’s degree in counsellin­g and graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Promoted to serve as NEISD’s Crisis Counselor at their Alternativ­e High School, Sharon helped students with learning disabiliti­es, substance abuse and teen pregnancy. In 1990, Sharon joined a group of psychiatri­sts as a licensed profession­al counselor. She provided profession­al counseling to teenagers dealing with suicide ideations, to couples giving up on marriage, to Christians giving up on God, and to everyday people looking for purpose in their lives. Sharon was a gifted counselor and confidant.

Sharon was the consummate cheerleade­r in life, telling people to get out of themselves and to focus on helping others. She was a gourmet cook and loved to entertain and bake. In 2012, she turned her love of cooking into a ministry at Woodland Church, with a cooking class for young women that became the Wonder Women of Woodland. Sharon leaves behind a legacy of love and the countless number of people who have been touched by her kindness. MEMORIAL SERVICES SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2023
