Tulane tops FAU to stay in AAC hunt

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Michael Pratt threw for three touchdowns in his South Florida homecoming to lead No. 24 Tulane to a 24-8 victory over Florida Atlantic on Saturday.

Pratt, who attended high school in Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach, completed 21 of 28 passes for 252 yards to help Tulane (10-1, 7-0) stay atop the American Athletic Conference.

Tulane extended its winning streak to nine games, but recent victories haven’t come easily. Saturday marked the first time in five games the Green Wave won by more than one score.

Even without injured starting wide receivers JhaQuan Jackson and Lawrence Keys, Pratt easily dissected the FAU (4-7, 3-4) defense.

SMU 38, MEMPHIS 34

Preston Stone fired a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Hudson with under three minutes left in the game to seal a win over the Tigers in Memphis, Tenn., to keep the Mustangs unbeaten in the American Athletic Conference.

SMU remains tied with Tulane and UTSA, all unbeaten in the AAC, heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

Blake Corum scored twice in the first half, Mike Sainristil intercepte­d two passes, and the Wolverines — playing again without suspended coach Jim Harbaugh — became the first college football program to win 1,000 games.

Michigan (11-0, 8-0 Big Ten) remained unbeaten in their final tune-up before next weekend’s showdown against No. 3 Ohio State.

NO. 10 LOUISVILLE 38, MIAMI 31

Jack Plummer threw three touchdown passes, the last of them a 58-yarder to Kevin Coleman with 4:17 remaining, and the Cardinals clinched a spot in the ACC title game by beating the Hurricanes in Miami Gardens, Fla.

Louisville made the ACC championsh­ip game for the first time after 10 years in the league and will play Florida State in Charlotte on Dec. 2 for the title.

Jalen Milroe passed for 197 yards and three touchdowns before sitting out the second half of the Crimson Tide’s rout of the Mocs in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Kaytron Allen ran for two touchdowns, Alex Felkins kicked a pair of field goals and the Nittany Lions pulled away after quarterbac­k Drew Allar left with an apparent injury in State College, Pa.

Jaxson Dart threw for three touchdowns on three consecutiv­e third-quarter series as the Rebels used a strong second half to defeat the Warhawks in Oxford, Miss.

NO. 14 OKLAHOMA 31, BYU 24

The Sooner forced three turnovers and scored 21 points off those takeaways and edged the Cougars in Provo, Utah, despite playing the second half without quarterbac­k Dillon Gabriel.

Division III playoffs

TRINITY 20, HARDIN-SIMMONS 6

The Tigers put on an impressive all-around performanc­e at Trinity Multi-Purpose Stadium, getting almost 400 yards of offense and using a stifling defense to knock off the Cowboys in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Trinity (10-1) — which has beaten Hardin-Simmons in the first round of the playoffs each of the past two years — will now take on top-ranked North Central (Ill.) (11-0) in the second round next weekend.
