S.A. man accused of sex assault of wife
A San Antonio man faces felony charges after police say he sexually assaulted his wife on several occasions.
Osazee Uwagbae, 34, faces a charge of sexual assault, a second-degree felony, and a charge of assault against a family member, a thirddegree felony.
Uwagbae’s wife, whose name is not being published due to the nature of the allegations, told San Antonio police on Dec. 4 that her husband had forced her to have sexual intercourse with him “multiple times,” according to an arrest affidavit,
The woman, who is 38, was interviewed again on Dec. 14 and told investigators she had been married to Uwagbae for about six months. She told police Uwagbae thought he was entitled to sex with her whenever he wanted and that she did not have the right to say no, according to the affidavit.
The woman told police that months prior to the alleged assault, she found out Uwagbae had been unfaithful, so she stopped having sex with him.
The woman told police that she returned home from work on Oct. 18 when Uwagbae attempted to coerce her into sex. When she said no, Uwagbae “aggressively grabbed” her and forced her onto a bed, according to the arrest affidavit. He then began to sexually assault her while placing his forearm on her neck, which impeded on her breathing, according to the affidavit.
The woman told investigators that Uwagbae removed his forearm from her neck and used his hands to pin her arms down as he continued the assault.
The woman said she didn’t report her husband earlier because Uwagbae threatened to say their marriage was only for her to gain citizenship, which he claimed could get her deported. Both are immigrants from Nigeria, according to the arrest affidavit.
Uwagbae was booked Thursday, and his bail is set at $125,000.
