Reserves lead Ohio past Georgia Southern

-

CONWAY, S.C. — Freshman Rickey Hunt ran for four touchdowns and caught a fifth as Ohio overcame a host of transfer portal losses to win its fifth-straight bowl game, beating Georgia Southern 41-21 at the Myrtle Beach Bowl on Saturday.

The Bobcats (10-2) forced five turnovers, four off Eagles quarterback Davis Brin, to win 10 games in consecutive years for the first time in program history.

And they did it without several of their best performers, including their top two rushers in Sieh Bangura and O'Shaan Allison, who accounted for 1,263 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground this season.

Also missing was Ohio starting quarterback Kurtis Rourke, who passed for 2,207 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Bobcats before committing to Indiana earlier this month.

Florida A&M rallies past Howard: Jeremy Moussa overcame a frustrating first half to throw three fourth-quarter touchdown passes, including two to Kelvin Dean Jr., powering Florida A&M's comeback past

Howard 30-26 in the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta.

Florida A&M (12-1) closed the season with 11 consecutive wins. Moussa connected with Dean on scoring passes of 21 and 53 yards as the Rattlers recovered after trailing 14-0 in the first quarter and 16-10 to open the fourth.

Dodgers finalize deal for Rays’ Glasnow

The Los Angeles Dodgers finalized their second major move this offseason, acquiring Tyler Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays in a four-player trade after the pitcher agreed to a $136.5 million, five-year contract.

Los Angeles also received outfielder Manuel Margot and sent the Rays young righthander Ryan Pepiot and outfielder Jonny DeLuca.

A week after signing free agent Shohei Ohtani to a record $700 million, 10-year contract to bolster an already potent lineup, the Dodgers addressed a need for pitching help with the addition of an often-injured, hardthrowing righthander with a track record of being a dominant performer when healthy.

The 30-year-old Glasnow had one season remaining at $25 million and would have been eligible for free agency after next season. The teams reached a tentative agreement on the trade Thursday and were given a 72hour window by Major League Baseball running through Sunday for the Dodgers to negotiate with Glasnow on a new deal.

Carpenter acquired by Braves: First baseman Matt Carpenter was acquired by the Atlanta Braves along with lefthander Ray Kerr and $1.5 million from the San Diego Padres on Friday for outfielder Drew Campbell.

Oosthuizen leading at Mauritius Open

Louis Oosthuizen moved into position to win on the European tour for the second straight week after making three eagles in a 7-under 65 to take the thirdround lead at the Mauritius Open at Bel-Ombre, Mauritius, on Saturday.

Oosthuizen was on 14-under par for the tournament and one shot clear of fellow South African Jacques De Villiers (68), with Laurie Canter (65) a further two strokes back in third.

Oosthuizen's remarkable round at La Réserve Golf Links included back-to-back eagles at Nos. 5 and 6 — the latter coming when he pitched over a bunker before the ball rolled into the cup — and another eagle at the par-5 15th hole thanks to a long, uphill, right-to-left putt.

Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open champion, claimed his 10th European tour title by winning the Alfred Dunhill Championship on Monday.

Kuchar and son build 3shot lead at Orlando: Matt Kuchar and his son Cameron led the way with a 15-under 57, building a three-shot lead over the teams of Bernhard Langer, Vijay Singh, David Duval and Retief Goosen at the PNC Championship at Orlando, Fla.

Tiger Woods and his son Charlie were at 8-under 64, leaning on Charlie's booming drives even while having to move back a set of tees, with Woods delivering most of the approach shots and neither converting enough birdie chances.

The PNC is restricted to 20 teams of major champions from any tour, or The Players Championship winners, and a family member.
