Texas State snaps 3-game skid

Four Bobcats scored in double figures as Texas State led for the entire second half, keeping Georgia State (13-15, 7-9) at bay in a 68-59 win on Saturday in Atlanta.

Coleton Benson scored a game-high 17 points on 4-of-8 shooting from 3-point range, while Davion Sykes added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Mason netted 15 and Brandon Love had 10 for the Bobcats (12-17, 5-11), who snapped a threegame skid.

NO. 4 ARIZONA 91 WASHINGTON 75

Caleb Love scored 28 points to eclipse 2,000 for his career as the Wildcats bounced back from their first home loss of the season with a win over the visiting Huskies.

Arizona (21-6, 12-4 Pac-12) lost at McKale Center for the first time this year on Thursday night, falling 77-74 to No. 21 Washington State.

The Wildcats shook it off quickly with a short turnaround, blistering the Huskies with a nearperfec­t start to build a 17-point lead in the opening 7 1⁄2 minutes in the teams' final meeting at McKale Center as Pac-12 members.

Arizona's Oumar Ballo controlled the paint after a quiet first half, finishing with 14 points, 14 rebounds and three blocked shots as the Wildcats turned back every Washington challenge. Arizona is 17-0 under coach Tommy Lloyd following a loss and has gone 99 straight games without losing two straight, the third-longest streak in Pac-12 history.

The Huskies (15-13, 7-10) had a wild night to start their two-game desert swing, beating Arizona State 84-82 in overtime on Thursday night after blowing a 25-point lead.

Washington spent most of the afternoon against Arizona unsuccessf­ully trying to dig out of the big early hole, getting no closer than nine after falling behind by 23.

NO. 6 IOWA STATE 71 WEST VIRGINIA 64

Tamin Lipsey had 14 points and six assists to lead the Cyclones to a home win over the Mountainee­rs.

Curtis Jones added 12 points for Iowa State

(21-6, 10-4 Big 12), which remained unbeaten in 16 home games this season.

Kobe Johnson and Kerr Kriisa each scored 12 points for West Virginia (9-18, 4-10). The Mountainee­rs committed 23 turnovers, which Iowa State converted into 29 points.

The Cyclones played through a few shooting slumps in the game. After building a 12-point lead in the first half, Iowa State went through a 1-for-8 shooting slump in the second half and fell behind by a point at 51-50.

The Cyclones regrouped and went on a 14-0 run, punctuated by Tre King's putback, for a 64-51 advantage with 3:27 remaining.

WAKE FOREST 83 NO. 8 DUKE 79

Hunter Sallis scored 29 points while Andrew Carr had a huge secondhalf performanc­e to help the Demon Deacons edge the visiting Blue Devils, earning a massive boost to their NCAA Tournament chances.

As Wake Forest fans stormed the court to celebrate, Duke star Kyle Filipowski appeared to be shaken up after a collision with a fan running by him as he walked toward the locker room tunnel. He was hobbled and had to be helped off the court amid the chaos.

Sallis capped this one by hitting two free throws with 1.8 seconds left to start the celebratio­n for the Demon Deacons (18-9, 10-6 Atlantic Coast Conference). Carr finished with 16 of his 18 points after halftime.

NO. 12 ILLINOIS 95 IOWA 85

Coleman Hawkins exploded for 30 points and added five assists and five steals as the Fighting Illini held off the Hawkeyes for a win at home.

Justin Harmon added 12 points and four rebounds off the bench and Terrence Shannon Jr. socred 12 for Illinois (207, 11-5 Big Ten).

Josh Dix led Iowa (1612, 8-9) with 20 points and was one of four starters to score in double figures for the Hawkeyes. He was joined by Tony Perkins, who finished with 18 points and eight rebounds, Ben Kirkke, who had 15 points, and Payton Sandfort, who finished with 12.

NO. 24 FLORIDA 77 VANDERBILT 64

Will Richard scored 21 points as the Gators secured their eighth win in the past 10 games with a rout of the visiting Commodores.

Walter Clayton Jr. had 19 points for Florida, which shot 46.7% from the field and 37.5% from 3-point range. Tyrese Samuel had 15 points.

The Gators (19-8, 9-5 Southeaste­rn Conference) are ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time since December 2021. They bounced back from a 98-93 overtime loss to No. 13 Alabama on Wednesday night.

Vanderbilt (7-20, 2-12) did not lead in the game. The Commodores shot 35.7% from the field and 22.7% from 3.

KANSAS STATE 84 NO. 25 BYU 74

Arthur Kaluma had a career-high 28 points and 10 rebounds as host Wildcats upset the Cougars.

Kaluma was one of five players to score in double-figure for Kansas State (15-11, 5-8 Big 12), which had lost seven of its last eight games. Tylor Perry scored 16 points, David N'Guessan and Cam Carter each had 12 and Will McNair 11.

Jaxson Robinson scored 15 points to lead BYU (19-7, 7-6), which is 3-3 in its last six games.
