Ko, Tardy and Schmelzel tied for lead at Blue Bay LPGA

-

SANYA, China — Lydia Ko and Bailey Tardy each shot 6-under 66s on Saturday and joined Sarah Schmelzel, who finished with a 69, to top the leaderboard after the third round of the Blue Bay LPGA on China's southern island of Hainan.

Ruixin Liu was two shots behind the three leaders after a 69.

Savannah Grewal shot a 64 — the best round of the day — and was three strokes back along with Minjee Lee (70).

Scheffler among Bay Hill leaders

Scottie Scheffler chipped in for eagle and holed a 45-foot birdie putt on his way to a 5under 67. U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark birdied five of his last six holes and shot 66 and Hideki Matsuyama stay among the leaders at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill on Friday in Orlando, Fla.

All that movement late on a warm day in central Florida led to a six-way share of the lead that includes British Open champion Brian Harman (68) and Russell Henley (69). They were at 7-under 137.

Scheffler, a Texas product, has an enormous amount of attention on his putting because of how flawless he has been from tee to green. He started the second round by missing a 4-foot par putt. But the world's No. 1 player was determined to just hit, not worry about

perfection, and let it go.

He didn't make everything. The 45-footer was a bonus, and he chipped in for eagle. But he also holed a 15-foot birdie putt on the 17th. And now he's in the mix again at Bay Hill, where he won in 2022 and contended into the final round last year.

Ancer extends Hong Kong lead

First-round co-leader Abraham Ancer birdied five of his final eight holes Saturday for an 8-under 62 and a fivestroke lead after two rounds of the inaugural LIV Golf tournament in Hong Kong.

Ancer had a tworound total of 15-under 125 on the Hong Kong Golf Club course. Harold Varner III and Eugenio Chacarra, who shot second-round 66s, were tied for second.

Joaquin Niemann, who won the Jeddah tournament in Saudi Arabia last week for his second LIV victory in three starts, had a 68 and was 10

strokes behind Ancer.

Manassero up by 1 at South Africa

Matteo Manassero, once a prodigy in European golf, stayed on course for a first win in more than a decade after retaining his one-stroke lead following the third round of the Jonsson Workwear Open in Edenvale, South Africa on Saturday.

The Italian backed up his career-best 11-under 61 in Friday's second round at Glendower Golf Club by shooting 67 to move onto 20-under par for the tournament. His nearest challengers are Shaun Norris of South Africa (65) and Jordan Smith of England (65).

Manassero became the youngest ever winner on the European tour — at age 17 — at the Castelló Masters Costa Azahar in Spain in 2010. That was the first of four titles in a three-year stretch.

He has since struggled and even dropped off the European tour.
