Cyclones bounce Bears from Big 12 tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Audi Crooks scored 23 points including the go-ahead basket with 41 seconds left and Emily Ryan made all eight of her free throws in the fourth quarter to help Iowa State wrap up a

67-62 win over No. 17 Baylor in the quarterfin­als of the Big 12 tournament.

Crooks scored underneath to give Iowa State the lead and Ryan made four free throws from there to complete a 12-1 game-ending run while fifthseede­d Baylor missed its final nine shots.

The fourth-seeded Cyclones (19-10) will take No. 19 Oklahoma in Monday’s semifinals after the Sooners beat TCU 69-53. Sahara Williams led Oklahoma with 17 points and eight rebounds. Madison Conner led the Horned Frogs (20-11) with 19 points.

ACC TOURNAMENT

In Greensboro, N.C., Sonia Citron scored 19 points, Maddy Westbeld added 18 and No. 14 Notre Dame defeated No. 11 Virginia Tech 82-53 to reach the ACC tournament final.

The fourth-seeded Irish were 9 of 14 on 3-pointers and shot 52% overall to hand the Hokies the worst loss ever by a top seed in the tournament.

Notre Dame, in the championsh­ip game for the first time since 2019, will face No. 10 N.C. State, which beat Florida State 69-43.

Aziaha James scored 23 points and Mimi Collins added 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Wolfpack, who reached the conference title game for the fourth time in five seasons.

BIG TEN TOURNAMENT

In Minneapoli­s, Jaz Shelly hit six 3-pointers on her way to 30 points to lead Nebraska to a 78-68 win over Maryland to reach the conference tournament final.

Alexis Markowski added nine points and 13 rebounds for the Cornhusker­s (22-10), who advance to face the winner of Michigan and No. 3 Iowa on Sunday.

Shyanne Sellers led five Terrapins in double figures with 15 points and added seven rebounds. Faith Masonius added 14 points and nine boards.

BIG EAST TOURNAMENT

In Uncasville, Conn., Paige Bueckers scored 29 points and No. 9 UConn overcame a facial injury to Aaliyah Edwards to beat Providence 86-53 and advance in the to the Big East semifinals.

Freshman KK Arnold added 17 points for the top-seeded Huskies (27-5, 18-0), who went undefeated in the Big East during the regular season and advance to a conference semifinal for the 36th straight season.

Connecticu­t will face Marquette in the semifinals on Sunday after the Golden Eagles beat Villanova 50-48 behind 13 points and eight rebounds by Liza Karlen.
