Mary Ellen Garcia Hedfelt

MARY ELLEN GARCIA HEDFELT, 89, of KIRBY TEXAS, passed FEBURARY 21, 2024.

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Friend, Mary was born to Florencio Garcia and Carmen T Garcia, 11/05/1934, in Laredo TX. After attending Laredo Martin High School she went to work to help support her single mom. At the age of 21 she married an Air Force service man, Frederick S. Hedfelt in 1955, and they lived together in numerous Cities, States and Countries and ended up retiring and settled down in Kirby/San Antonio Texas. Together they raised 7 children.

Mary is survived by the children: Frederick S & Robinell Hedfelt, Theodore W & Donna Hedfelt, Mary Ellen & Dennis W

Folkerts, Elizabeth H & Denny Hassinger, Fransisco X (Pancho) Hedfelt, Leo R Hedfelt, Theresa M Hedfelt. She leaves to cherish her memory, her bother-Reynaldo Garcia. The loving grandchildren include Valerie Young, Sarah Rodriguez, Christina Hedfelt, T.W. Hedfelt, Ariana Hedfelt, Daniel Garza, Julie Quinonez, Dustin Garza, Frederick (Eric) Hedfelt, Sophia Ledbetter, Alexandra Morin, Zach Hedfelt, Cecilia Goodin and Cody Hedfelt. Mary’s great grand children include: Fallen, Drayden, Wade, Dexten, Tessa and Remy.

She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Frederick S Hedfelt, Esperanza Parra – sister, Florencio Garcia-brother, Gilberto Garcia-bother, Adolfo Garcia-bother,

Carmen Cervantes-sister and Fernando Garciabother. She will rest in eternal peace with the Lord and her family.

Besides her family,

Mary contributed to the community. She was a founding and active member of the Kirby Senior Center and also active in the VFW Woman’s Auxiliaries. Mary loved her Faith and was a long-time parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. For fun, she enjoyed “Las Machinas” (gambling), Dancing, Traveling and Family Gatherings.

A Viewing and Rosary are scheduled for March 13, 2024 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218. The Funeral Services is schedule for March 14, 2024, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm, St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 2829 Ackerman Rd, Kirby, TX 78219. Procession to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will follow the mass.
