Topo Chico bubbles over into mixers

- By Paul Stephen

Our cups bubbleth over. Topo Chico, the beloved brand of mineral water hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, announced a new line of cocktail mixers. The iconic marque found on countless bottles behind bars, in gas stations and homes across San Antonio is adding a tonic water, ginger beer and club soda to its lineup.

Topo already provides the preferred base for Texas’ signature ranch water cocktail, a refreshing elixir of Topo Chico, tequila and lime juice. Now bartenders can appease Topo Chico loyalists in just about any beverage requiring bubbles.

“People have long used Topo Chico Mineral Water as a mixer, so expanding into this category is a natural progression for our brand,” Topo Chico marketing executive Frederico Mitchell said in a media release. “We want fans to enjoy our iconic bubbles as much as possible while establishing ourselves as a lifestyle brand. Our newest innovation, Topo Chico Mixers, encourages fans to elevate their drinking experiences while delivering on the delicate taste we know they enjoy.”

The new trio of mixers are now available nationwide at most of the places you’d normally find classic Topo Chico, including large retailers, liquor stores and and drugstores, according to the release. The mixers are sold in four-packs of 7.1-ounce bottles with a suggested retail price of $6.79.

Topo Chico has branched out into several new products since the Coca-Cola Co. purchased the brand in 2017. In addition to the new mixers, Topo has launched the Sabores line of fruit juice-infused sparkling waters and a wide range of boozy seltzers, including its own take on ranch water, in partnership with the Molson Coors Beverage Co.
