Scott D. Marrs, D.O. passed away on March 2nd, 2024 at the age of 65 after fighting colon cancer.

Dr. Marrs was born in Waterloo, Iowa to John U. Marrs and Ruth A. Arends Marrs on August 3rd, 1958. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High and spent two years at Iowa Central Community College, then graduated from Creighton University.

He married Linda Kae (Schmidt) Marrs in 1983. They had their first child, Jessica, in 1987, a few months before he graduated from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines. They had their second child, AJ, in 1989 and then graduated from 3 years of family practice residency in Waterloo, Iowa. They had their 3rd child, Meredith, in 1994.

He always said if you love what you do you will never work a day in your life and that could be said for all his years in practice. He and the family moved to Lake of the Ozarks in 2002 where he ran a family practice, started and was a Medical Director of Urgent Care in Jefferson City, and was also the first civilian Physician Director of the Troop in Training Clinic at Fort Leonard Wood.

His last practice was in Schertz, TX at a Fort Sam Houston outreach clinic. He said the time he spent taking care of the military, retirees and dependents was the most gratifying in his career and that he wished he had done it years earlier. He had hobbies of woodworking, barbecuing, playing poker, the shooting sports and was an insatiable reader as instilled by his mother. He loved family time and being around his children and grandchildren.

Dr. Boots, as he was called by many of his patients, leaves behind his loving wife Linda, daughter Jessica (Jay) Walkup and their sons Jackson and Jase; daughter Meredith (Delton) Thompson and their children Logan, Connor and Kaylee; son Austin J. Marrs and significant other Marie. He is also survived by his parents John and Ruth Marrs and sister Deana (Steve) Hill and his niece Kayla, his dog Tank, and many additional family members and friends.

He will be missed by his family, his friends, and a plethora of patients. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in his honor at P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
