Kathryn Cage Lutts of San Antonio passed away peacefully at her home on March 12,

2024, surrounded by her family. Kathryn was born in Falfurrias, Texas. She grew up on her family’s south Texas ranch in Brooks County. Kathryn graduated from Falfurrias High School where she was the majorette. She then attended Mount Vernon Junior College, later transferring to the University of Texas where she was a Kappa Alpha Theta. She was always known to her friends as a very outgoing, vibrant Texas beauty with a tremendous sense of humor. Her children remember hearing her infectious laughter even from great distances. She was friends with so many from different walks of life and loved everyone she became close to.

She was a champion for those who had less and needed assistance, be it physically or monetarily.

Kathryn selflessly gave of herself to all and was very active with the Junior League of San Antonio. She had a deep love of reading. She attended countless Bible studies, contributing to her faith and understanding.

“Abi,” as her grandchildren affectionately called her, loved her family dearly. Her children always said that she should start a restaurant as she was such a wonderful cook, and she did have a passion for creating culinary delights. In her younger years, Kathryn played tennis avidly and was considered one of the top players at her club. She greatly enjoyed travelling and did so extensively around the world. Later in life, the trip she most enjoyed was to the great continent of Africa, specifically the countries of Tanzania and Kenya, with her husband Pat. There they witnessed the great wildebeest migration from a hot air balloon and went on numerous photo safaris. Kathryn was also a fitness buff and worked out nearly every day up through the age of 86! She could still make a muscle even at that age! But, most of all, Kathryn loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren (11), and as of late her first great-grandchild. All of the children fondly remember the random acts of love and kindness Abi always bestowed upon them. They always felt loved and cared for. She made them feel not only like the most important person in the room, but in the world. Kathryn loved her grandchildren more than anything else in her life. She would cook with them, take them on golf cart rides, shop, have sleepovers, and numerous trips to Baskin Robbins!

Kathryn lived in numerous places throughout her life, including Falfurrias, San Antonio, Beaumont, and Kerrville, Texas. Her final years were back in San Antonio where she spent the majority of her life, and Kathryn felt at home there. She enjoyed her memberships in the San Antonio Country Club and the Argyle Club.

Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents, Julia, and Richard Cage. She is survived by husband Patrick Stephens Lutts; sister Sharon Cage; brother Presnall C. Cage and wife Stephanie; son Wesley Callaway III and daughter-in-law Pam; daughter Julia Gwin and son-in-law Jon: son Philip Carrington and daughter-in-law Lisa; son William Carrington and daughter-in-law Caroline; stepdaughter Mary Philip and husband Al; stepdaughter Karen McCormick and husband Paul; stepson Donaldson Campbell; stepson Patrick Lutts Jr.; stepdaughter
