Floyd Joseph Jenschke, age 89, of San Antonio, Tx, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
Floyd was born on January 3, 1935, to parents Herman and Regina (Halfmann) Jenschke in Fredericksburg, TX, and had one sister, Beatrice. Growing up on his family’s ranch near Johnson City, he was very active in 4-H and FFA, winning multiple awards, including the unique distinction of showing Grand Champion Herefords eight consecutive years at Blanco County livestock shows. Floyd also participated in multiple school athletic activities.
After Floyd graduated from Johnson City High School in 1954, he joined the US Air Force, obtaining the rank of staff sergeant in just three years. Floyd completed four

years of service before separating from the Air Force. He then returned to Texas and started working in Fredericksburg with some of his cousins, who were also his best friends from childhood.
A few months later, Floyd was introduced to the love of his life,
Tanis Jean Lanier. Floyd and Tanis were married on June 4, 1960, and made their home in San Antonio, TX for over 63 years. They went on to have two sons, Gregory Alan and Randall Bruce. Floyd and Tanis were very proud of their sons, as well as their daughters-inlaw, Aida (Hubbard) and Ann (Marnoch), and their grandson Joshua Paul.
Floyd worked very hard at various jobs, including Pearl Brewery and CPS Energy until the multiple injuries he received through the years made it too difficult to continue. Floyd enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family, going fishing at Port Aransas, hunting at the family ranch, and teaching his sons a bit about farming, ranching, and gardening.
Having lived a long and full life, Floyd was predeceased by his parents, many family members, and friends. He is survived by his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, and grandson, as well as his sister, many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
