Mary Catherine “Kotsy” Rihn Tschirhart

Mary Catherine “Kotsy” Rihn Tschirhart, of San Antonio passed away March 15, 2024 at the age of 87. She was born December 28, 1936 in Hondo, Texas one of twelve children of Bernard Jacob Rihn and Mary Anna Hutzler Rihn.

In 1954, Kotsy graduated from La Coste High School. She worked at the La Coste National Bank for a few years until she married. On July 28, 1957, she married Lynroe Allen Tschirhart at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. They were blessed with sixty years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2017.

Kotsy was a lifetime member of the Saint Gregory the Great altar society. She was devoted

to her faith and volunteered with both the Church and School in multiple roles throughout her lifetime.

Survivors include her children, Terry Allen Tschirhart of San Antonio, Chris Michael (Vonnie) Tschirhart of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Shelly Kay Tschirhart of San Antonio; grandchildren, Dalton Tschirhart, Stephanie Tschirhart, Paul (Laura) Tschirhart, and Brian Tschirhart; sister, Eva Rihn Ruffin; in-laws, Vernor Bippert, Robert Hargroder, and Robert E. (Annette) Tschirhart; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Kotsy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lynroe A. Tschirhart; son, Carl

Ray Tschirhart; sisters, Marcella Rihn, Inez

(O.B.) Harless, Anna Mae (Leo) Hitzfelder, Josephine (Melvin) Blume, Adelyn Bippert, Madelyn (Clayton) Murphy, Barbara Hargroder; brothers, Jerome B. (Helen) Rihn, Denis (Joyce) Rihn, and Anthony Rihn.

Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst Rd., San Antonio, Texas followed by The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville,

Texas. A bereavement meal will follow at the La Coste City Hotel, 11280 Castro Avenue, La Coste Texas.
