Griner re-signs with WNBA’s Mercury
PHOENIX — Brittney Griner has re-signed with the Phoenix Mercury, the only WNBA team she has ever played for.
The deal was announced by the league on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday night. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Phoenix selected Griner with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 WNBA draft after a stellar collegiate
career at Baylor.

Smith records Xfinity triumph
Chandler Smith took the lead with 59 laps to go Saturday and won the spring NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Richmond Raceway for the second year in a row.
Smith led a 1-2-3 finish for Joe Gibbs Racing — the seventh time the organization has done it — with Aric Almirola second and Taylor Gray third in his first start in the series. Corey Heim was fourth, Jesse Love was fifth and Bubba Pollard was sixth, also in his first start in the series.
Larson secures Cup Series pole:
Kyle Larson turned a fast lap at 120.332 mph on Saturday to win the pole position for Sunday night's NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway.
Larson, the defending race winner, barely edged Hendrick Motorsports teammate Chase Elliott for his first pole of the season. Elliott was slower by just 0.002 seconds.

Laurel River wins Dubai World Cup
Laurel River rallied to win the $12 million Dubai World Cup by a recordsetting 81⁄2 lengths on Saturday at Meydan
Racecourse.
Breaking from the far outside post in the field of 12, Laurel River and jockey Tadhg O'Shea surged into the lead at the midway point of the 1
race. Laurel River broke the old winning margin of six lengths set by Dubai Millennium in 2000 at Nad al Sheba. He covered the distance in 2:21.31 and paid $20.70.
“I'm still coming to terms with what's happened. I think it'll probably sink in in another day or two," trainer Bhupat Seemar said. “It's absolutely amazing.”
Rybakina upset in Miami final
Unseeded Danielle Collins upset No 4 seed Elena Rybakina to win the women's singles title at the Miami Open on Sunday.
Collins dispatched Rybakina 7-5 6-3.
