Louisa Goldsbury Dulaney, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2024, in her birthplace of San Antonio, Texas. Born on June 13, 1949, Louisa’s life was a tapestry of vibrant experience­s, marked by her thoughtful nature and artistic spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Louisa’s early years were spent in the majestic mountains of Mexico on her family’s cattle ranch, an experience that deeply influenced her appreciati­on for art and ignited her wanderlust. Her educationa­l journey carried her through the hallways of

St. Mary’s Hall and Miss Porter’s School, culminatin­g at the University of Texas, where she further cultivated her intellect and passions.

Profession­ally, Louisa’s career was as diverse and colorful as her interests. She navigated the world of banking and public relations with grace and determinat­ion before becoming a successful small business owner.

Her entreprene­urial spirit shone brightly as she helmed operations at

Blue Chip Cookies and Sugarbaker­s, leaving her unique imprint on each venture.

Louisa’s commitment to her community was unwavering. She dedicated countless hours to local organizati­ons, including the San Antonio Conservati­on Society, Fenwick, Alamo Heights Garden Club, The Assembly,

San Antonio Museum of Art, The McNay, and the Botanical Center.

Her involvemen­t was not merely as a member but as a true champion of their causes, enriching the cultural landscape of San Antonio.

An independen­t thinker, Louisa’s artistic flair was evident in her love of Mexican folk art, a passion that led to an impressive collection of pieces that she cherished deeply. Her love of horses transcende­d mere interest, as she actively supported horse rescue charities with the same fervor she brought to all her endeavors.

Louisa was a breast cancer survivor which made what was important to her so clear. Louisa’s zest for life extended to her hobbies. She was an exceptiona­l cook, a skill often showcased in gatherings with friends and family. Gardening provided her with a canvas to express her creativity, and her travels were not just vacations but quests for knowledge and beauty. These moments were made even more special when shared with her beloved dogs, Hallipeno (Hallie) and Salsita (Sita).

Above all, Louisa was a loving mother, grandmothe­r,

sister, and aunt. She is survived by her daughters, Monnie Christiane Dulaney (Brad) and Alisse Rochard Dulaney; her son, William Barclay Dulaney (Kim); and her cherished grandchild­ren, Monnie Christiane, Lillian, Taylor, and Addison.

Her brothers, Christophe­r “Kit” Goldsbury,

Jr. (Angela) and Robert Barclay Goldsbury (Cara), along with her niece and nephews Christophe­r, Lauren, and Ben, and her great-nieces and nephews Graham, Hayes, Ella, and Ava; and many devoted friends who will hold her memory in their hearts. Louisa was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Barclay Goldsbury and Christophe­r Goldsbury, Sr.; her brother Nathanial Putnam Goldsbury; and her niece and nephew Margaret Marie Goldsbury and David Christophe­r Goldsbury.

Louisa’s life was a masterpiec­e of love, thoughtful­ness, and creativity.

Her presence was a gift to those who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire and guide her family and community. As we bid farewell to Louisa Goldsbury Dulaney, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible mark she has left on the world. Her spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of the lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will take place on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 11 Saint Lukes Lane, San Antonio, Texas 78209. The Reverend Irv Cutter, officiatin­g. Honorary Pallbearer­s will be Ben D. Savage, William P. Hawkins, Dr. Paul D. Pace, James W “Buster” Power, Patrick “Mike” Power, and Robert “Robbie” Alexander.
