Hello, Gourdough’s
A taste of Austin has rolled down Interstate 35 and come to a deep-fried stop on the River Walk.
Gourdough’s Public House co-owner Ryan Palmer has confirmed plans to open a new location this fall at 215 Losoya St. The Express-News reported Friday Gourdough’s appeared to be heading this way based on Palmer and co-owner Paula Walker’s application for permits from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
“We’re super excited for it to be our first venture outside Austin,” Palmer said. The address was previously home to La Paloma Riverwalk Parrilla Grill, which closed earlier this spring. “It’s a great building. We’re going to strip it down to its original glory to show the way it looked when it was built.”
Gourdough’s launched as a food trailer specializing in overthe-top doughnuts in 2009, and has since expanded into multiple locations in Austin.
In addition to indulgent doughnuts, the brick-and-mortar restaurant Gourdough’s Public House serves a full menu of appetizers, salads and doughnut-based sandwiches, burgers and entrées such as the Mother Clucker (fried chicken and honey butter over a doughnut) and the Drunken Hunk (baconwrapped meatloaf, a fried egg and bourbon- or cider-based barbecue sauce over a doughnut).
“We are going to add some San Antonio flair,” Palmer said. “We’ll have a a Selena doughnut. We’re going to have some fun.”
Gourdough’s Public House will be open 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily at 215 Losoya St. The restaurant will include a full bar, and the complete menu will be available through closing time.
