UTSA sophomore quarterback Bryce Rivers, a Stevens grad, tweeted Friday he intends to transfer.

Rivers was UTSA’s primary quarterback for the team’s final two games of 2018, making his first career start in the season finale against North Texas on Nov. 24. He made his first appearance of the year during the final minute of UTSA’s game against FIU on Nov. 10, throwing a 36-yard touchdown pass to Tykie Ogle-Kellogg on his first throw.

For the year, he completed 37 of 64 passes (57.8 percent) for 463 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

“After long talks with close friends and family, I think it is in my best interest to transfer from UTSA,” Rivers posted. “I have made memories and friendships that will last a lifetime here at UTSA and loved every second of being a Roadrunner. Thank you to all the fans, the city of San Antonio and UTSA for taking a chance on a hometown kid and believing in me. I hope for nothing but success for my brothers and this program in the future.”

UTSA finished the season 3-9 and ranked last in the nation in total offense at 247.1 yards per game.

Rivers came off the bench for limited action in three games as a freshman last year after throwing for 6,000 yards with 56 touchdowns during his junior and senior seasons at Stevens.
