George scores 31 to propel Thunder to victory over Jazz

OKLAHOMA CITY — Paul George went 5-of-6 from 3point range and scored 31 points, Dennis Schroder added 23, and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Utah Jazz 122-113 on Monday night.

Steven Adams had 22 points in the first meeting between the Western Conference foes since the Jazz downed the Thunder in six games in the first round of last season’s playoffs. Oklahoma City overcame a 4of-18 shooting performanc­e by Russell Westbrook, who nonetheles­s managed a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

The Thunder have gone 17-4 since starting this season 0-4.

Donovan Mitchell battled foul trouble much of the game but led the Jazz with 19 points.

Joel Embiid scored 24 points in his return to the lineup after a one-game absence, and Philadelph­ia beat visiting Detroit.

Jimmy Butler, who had 38 points to lead Philadelph­ia to a 117-111 victory in Detroit on Friday, exited in the first half with a strained groin and did not return.

Luke Kennard finished with a career-high 28 points for the Pistons.

MAVERICKS 101, MAGIC 76

Harrison Barnes scored 19 points, rookie Jalen Brunson added 17, and Dallas beat visiting Orlando.

Brunson got the start at point guard in place of injured Dennis Smith Jr. (right wrist sprain) and reached a career high in points. He has scored in double figures in each of the Mavs’ last three games.

Luka Doncic had 11 rebounds and a season-high nine assists to offset a 2for-11 shooting performanc­e, finishing with seven points.

Marcus Morris Sr. had a season-high 31 points, making three quick 3-pointers to start the second half, and Jayson Tatum scored 21 to lead a depleted Boston lineup past visiting New Orleans for its sixth consecutiv­e win.

Anthony Davis scored 41 points for New Orleans, which was playing back-toback games after beating the Pistons on Sunday. PACERS 109, WIZARDS 101

Myles Turner had 26 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks, and host Indiana held on against Washington for its season-high fourth straight victory.

Eric Bledsoe had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Milwaukee made 15 3pointers in a win over visiting Cleveland.

De’Aaron Fox scored 23 of his 25 points in the second half, helping Sacramento rally for a victory at Chicago.

Nikola Jokic had 27 points and 12 rebounds, and reserve Monte Morris tied a career high with 20 points as Denver held off visiting Memphis.

Tobias Harris scored 33 points, and Patrick Beverley made two free throws with 33.3 seconds left in overtime, sending Los Angeles to a win at Phoenix.

Stephen Curry scored 38 points while making seven 3-pointers, Klay Thompson added 26 points, and Golden State beat visiting Minnesota.

Kyle Kuzma scored 33 points, LeBron James had 28 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds, and host Los Angeles slipped past Miami.
