Terps stun Hoosiers

Bruno Fernando had a careerhigh 25 points and 13 rebounds Friday and Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 24 as host Maryland rallied past No. 22 Indiana 78-75.

The Terrapins (14-3, 5-1 Big Ten) trailed by 14 points early in the game and by 10 shortly after halftime before storming back for their fifth straight victory.

Romeo Langford scored 28 points for Indiana (12-4, 3-2).

Women

(6) Stanford 72, (19) Arizona State 65: Alanna Smith scored 25 points and DiJonai Carrington hit a momentum-changing halfcourt shot in the road win.

Stanford (13-1, 3-0 Pac-12) led by 12 at the half, but Arizona State (11-4, 2-2) pulled within 48-47 before Carrington’s buzzer-beater to end the third kicked off a 9-0 run.

(10) Oregon State 83, UCLA 73: Destiny Slocum scored 22 points and Mikayla Pivec added 21 as the Beavers (13-2, 3-0 Pac-12) won in Los Angeles for their fifth straight victory.

(15) Marquette 91, Villanova 55: Natisha Hiedeman scored 24 points and Danielle King made all eight shots to finish with 17 points for the visiting Golden Eagles.

Erika Davenport added 16 points and 11 rebounds for Marquette (13-3, 4-0 Big East).

Arizona 60, (24) California 55: Aari McDonald surpassed 30 points for a school record fifth time this season as the Wildcats prevailed at home.

McDonald scored the last seven points for Arizona (13-2, 3-1 Pac-12) to finish with 36. She broke a tie for the most 30-point games in a season with her coach, Adia Barnes, the school’s all-time leading scorer.

The Golden Bears (10-4, 1-2) got 19 points from Kristine Anigwe, who moved up to second on the Cal career scoring list.
