Game of the year?

-

The Spurs’ win over the Thunder on Thursday is being called by some the best game of the NBA season so far. Here are some of the things that set it apart:

LaMarcus Aldridge’s 56 points were ...

The third-most all-time in Spurs history, trailing David Robinson’s 71 and George Gervin’s 63.

The most scored by a Spurs player at home.

One point shy of the AT&T Center record (57, Kyrie Irving).

Tied with Karl Malone for second-most scored by a player age 30 or older. The record-holder is Kobe Bryant, who scored 60 in his final game in 2016.

The most without a 3-pointer since Shaquille O’Neal scored 61 on March 6, 2000.

The Spurs ...

Made 16 of 19 3-pointers (.842), the highest percentage in NBA history for a team with at least 10 attempts. Made their first 14 3-pointers in row, the most 3-pointers without a miss to start a game in NBA history.

Were one of only 12 teams in NBA history to finish a game shooting better than 56 percent overall, 84 percent from 3-point range, and 89 percent from the foul line. They are the only team on that list to attempt more than four 3-pointers.

Scored 154 points, the most in 22 seasons under Gregg Popovich and third-most in club history. The 147 scored by the Thunder were the most allowed in the Popovich era. The 301 points combined were tied for the second-most in the past 20 years, and were the most since 2006.
