It’s Fiesta Medals Contest time again

- By René A. Guzman STAFF WRITER

Bring on the bling, Fiesta medal fans. The Express-News’ annual Fiesta Medals Contest is on.

Each year, we showcase the best pin-ons from official Fiesta courts, as well as area nonprofits, businesses and even individuals who go the extra shimmery mile to whip up motley, massproduced medals for Fiesta fans to buy, sell and trade.

This year, we will once again spotlight medals across various categories, including Fiesta royals and events, sports and celebrities, and just about any other theme you can slap with some Fiesta flavor. You’ll see the winners in April in our special Fiesta section and at mySA.com/Fiesta.

The rules

• The Fiesta Medals Contest is open to nonprofit groups and agencies, foundations, schools, universities and clubs. Official Fiesta royals may enter, too, as can businesses and individuals who just love Fiesta.

• Only manufactured and mass-produced medals are allowed. No handmade medals.

• Entries will be judged on design, originality and production quality. Judges do not consider how much the medal costs or if it’s given away.

• Entries will not be returned. Medals will be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to a local journalism group for scholarships.
