Bane’s 3-pointer lifts TCU over Oklahoma St. in Big 12

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Desmond Bane hit a corner 3pointer with 16 seconds left to give TCU a one-point lead as it held off Oklahoma State in a 73-70 win in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament on Wednesday night.

TCU advances to face No. 1 seed Kansas State in Thursday’s quarterfin­als.

Kouat Noi scored 20 points to lead TCU (20-12).

Later Wednesday night, West Virginia defeated Oklahoma 72-71. The Mountainee­rs advance to face second-seeded Texas Tech on Thursday.

ATLANTIC COAST

Kerry Blackshear had 19 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 16 Virginia Tech beat Miami 71-56 in the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament at Charlotte, N.C. The Hokies will face Florida State in the quarterfin­als.

Jordan Nwora had 24 points, and Louisville defeated Notre Dame 75-53. The Cardinals will face No. 3 North Carolina in the quarterfin­als.

Markell Johnson hit two free throws with 2.6 seconds left, and North Carolina State beat Clemson 5958. The Wolfpack advanced to the quarterfin­als to face second-ranked Virginia. Buddy Boeheim had a career-high 20 points, and Syracuse defeated Pittsburgh 73-59. The Orange will face No. 5 Duke in the quarterfin­als.

ATLANTIC 10

Nathan Cayo’s layup with 0.2 seconds left lifted Richmond to a 52-50 win over Fordham in the Atlantic 10 tournament at New York’s Barclays Center. Richmond will meet sixthseede­d Saint Louis in the fourth of four secondroun­d games Thursday.

Terry Nolan Jr. scored 20 points, including six in overtime, to lead George Washington to a 68-64 win over Massachuse­tts. The Colonials will play George Mason in the second round.

BIG EAST

Maliek White scored a career-high 19 points, and Providence beat Butler 8057 in the first round of the Big East tournament in New York. Providence will face No. 25 Villanova in the quarterfin­als.

Shamorie Ponds scored 18 points as St. John’s gave its NCAA hopes a boost with a much-needed 82-74 win against DePaul. The Red Storm will face Marquette in the quarterfin­als.

BIG TEN

James Palmer Jr. tied a career high with 34 points, and Nebraska beat Rutgers 68-61 in the opening round of the Big Ten tournament in Chicago. The Cornhusker­s will meet Maryland in the second round.

Giorgi Bezhanishv­ili scored 26 points, and Illinois rallied for a 74-69 overtime victory against Northweste­rn. The Illini will next face Iowa.

PAC-12

Bennie Boatwright had 22 points and 11 rebounds, helping Southern California roll over Arizona 78-65 in the opening round of the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas. USC moves on to face top-seeded Washington the quarterfin­als.

McKinley Wright IV scored 18 points, and Colorado held off California 5651. The Buffaloes move on to face No. 4 seed Oregon State in Thursday’s quarterfin­als.

Jaylen Hands had 22 points, helping UCLA hold off Stanford 79-72. UCLA earned a spot in Thursday‘s quarterfin­als against No. 2 seed Arizona State.

PATRIOT

Jordan Burns had a career-high 35 points to lead Colgate to a 94-80 victory over Bucknell in the championsh­ip game of the Patriot League Tournament at Hamilton, N.Y., giving the Raiders their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1996.

Women MOUNTAIN WEST

Braydey Hodgins scored 16 points to lead Boise State to its third straight Mountain West Conference Tournament title, beating Wyoming 68-51 in Las Vegas.
