Gloria Bell: Chilean director Sebastián Lelio offers an American update of his 2013 film, “Gloria,” about a 50something woman suddenly thrust back into the dating scene. Julianne Moore is earning heaps of praise for her portrayal of the title character, an L.A. office-worker by day and dance-club devotee by night. It’s during one of those nights that she meets Arnold (John Turturro) and finds herself dealing with an unexpected new romance. It sports a 98 Tomatometer score in limited release.
Us: Jordan Peele is already getting great reviews for his eagerly anticipated follow-up to “Get Out” — it boasts a perfect 100 Tomatometer score after debuting at South by Southwest in Austin last week. Described by writer-director Peele as more straight-ahead horror than the social horror of its predecessor, the film involves a family of four battling doppelgängers determined to take their place. It’s set in 1986 and the present day; Lupita Nyong’o has already earned rave reviews for her portrayal of a woman and her double.
