Two outlets close at La Cantera
Here’s the rundown: Riley Rose has closed its San Antonio boutique and Instacart is expanding its alcohol delivery services in Texas.
Riley Rose, an offshoot of Forever 21, opened its store at The Shops at La Cantera in 2017. It sells makeup, skin care, hair and home décor products.
“As we develop the Riley Rose brand, learn more about our customer demo and what brick-andmortar locations work best, we have made the decision to close the La Cantera Riley Rose location,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
An Italian restaurant backed by Bartolo “Buddy” Valastro, the star of television show “Cake Boss,” also has closed its doors, Staff Writer Chuck Blount reports. Buddy V’s Ristorante opened at The Shops at La Cantera in January 2018.
Another retailer, Cotton on Kids, is set to open at the shopping center in midMarch, general manager Brian Schroeder said recently.
Grocery delivery company Instacart is expanding its booze delivery in Texas and 13 other states. Instacart customers will see a banner in the company’s app that will make it easier to shop for beer, wine and spirits at retailers the company works with, according to a news release.
The company partners with Kroger, Total Wine & More and an assortment of other grocers and specialty stores.
Liquidation sales at Payless ShoeSource, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month, will continue through at least this month, according to the retailer’s website. However, Monday was the last day to use gift cards and merchandise credit.
Payless operates at least a dozen stores in the San Antonio area.
A new wine bar called Little Death has opened at at 2327 N. St. Mary’s St., Staff Writer Paul Stephen reports.
Hearthstone Bakery Cafe is closing its location at The Forum at Olympia Parkway next week and moving it to the former Crumpets Restaurant & Bakery on Harry Wurzbach Road, Blount reports. It’s expected to open in April.
Incredible Pizza Co. is looking at turning a former Kmart store at 2015 S.W. Loop 410 into a “family entertainment center,” according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Work would conclude in October.
Convenience chain 7-11 is eyeing building a new store at 513 Pat Booker Road, with construction starting in June and ending in October, a filing indicates.
AutoZone is looking to build a new store at Potranco and Richland Hills, which would be finished in September, according to a state filing.
Fast-food chain Burger King may build a new restaurant at 14235 Potranco Road, according to a TDLR filing. It would be finished in July.
