Fighter succumbs to brain injury

Maxim Dadashev died at a Washington-area hospital Tuesday, four days after suffering brain swelling in Friday’s light welterweight fight with Subriel Matias in Oxon Hill, Md. He was 28.

His corner stopped the bout after the 11th round because he’d taken several shots to the head.
