Now, St. Paddy’s Day is every day at bar

-

It’s still a downtown San Antonio sports bar, but it has added an Irish twist. The former space of The Ticket now goes by the name Maddy McMurphy’s Irish Sports Bar on Houston Street.

The restaurant and bar took on the new identity about a week ago, and the new bar is run by the mantra that “every day is St. Patrick’s Day.” Draft Lone Star Beer is colored green in honor of the Emerald Isle, and there is a selection of Irish and Scotch whiskies behind the bar.

There are a few key changes with the name change: expanded hours and a fresh commitment to the food program. Maddy McMurphy’s now opens at 11 a.m. daily, with a madefrom-scratch menu of offerings such as five flavors of chicken wings, Alamodome Nachos piled high, super pretzels, pizzas and three different sub sandwiches.

Maddy McMurphy’s is owned by the same group that operates MadDogs British Pub, BierGarten and On the Bend on the River Walk, all within walking distance of the property. It carries all the premier sports television packages, including NFL Sunday Ticket, NHL Center Ice, MLB Extra Innings and the NBA League Pass, as well as pay-per-view boxing and UFC fights free of charge.
