Kohl’s looks to hire 330 locally for the holidays
Kohl’s is planning to hire 90,000 temporary workers, including more than 330 in the San Antonio area, and hosting its first-ever national hiring event as the discount department store retailer prepares for a busy holiday season.
The company will hold the hiring event Oct. 5 at its more than 1,100 stores and e-commerce fulfillment centers, and hopes to hire 5,000 seasonal employees in one day. Candidates also can apply online through the retailer’s website.
As part of a pilot program, about 7,000 of the 90,000 associates will work at 135 stores devoted to handling online orders.
Target, Amazon and UPS also are going on hiring sprees ahead of the holidays and aim to hire more than 260,000 seasonal
workers combined. Facing a tight labor market, some are raising wages and offering discounts and other perks to attract employees.

CarMax has S.A. plans
With consumers buying more big-ticket items online, CarMax announced this week that it will start selling its used cars online in San Antonio and several other cities in Texas.
Customers can fill out financing
and trade-in paperwork online and have their cars delivered to their home or workplace, and faster pickup is available at stores for those who complete some of the paperwork online. They can testdrive the car before purchasing.
“This is the future of car buying,” said Bill Nash, CarMax president and CEO. “We’re delivering on an unmet customer need for a car buying experience that is flexible, convenient and completely tailored to each customer.”
The service launches locally in late October.
Plant-based burgers
SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment is adding the Impossible Burger, a plantbased
burger, to menus at 12 of its parks, including SeaWorld San Antonio.
The company said in a statement that adding the burger “further supports SeaWorld’s commitment to providing guests with sustainably sourced food and its mission to protect the environment across all aspects of its operations.”
Meat alternatives, or plant-based products meant to taste like meat, are popping up at more restaurants, entertainment venues and grocery stores. Taco Cabana recently announced it would start selling Beyond Meat tacos and bowls this month.
