Washington & Lee downs Trinity; OLLU scores upset

Trinity finished the Leslie Robinson Classic with an 88-71 loss to Washington & Lee University on Tuesday afternoon.

Trinity (2-5) took an early 10-4 lead, but the Generals (7-3) responded with eight unanswered points to pull in front, and the Tigers never led again in the game.

Washington & Lee led 20-18 before going on a 22-4 over the next seven minutes of the game to boost that margin to 20 points.

Trinity shot just shy of 37% from the field, including just 5 of 20 from 3-point range.

Washington & Lee connected on 44.2% overall and 33.3% (12 of 36) on its 3-pointers.

Ben Hanley scored a career-high 21 points to lead Trinity, hitting 6 of 11 from the field.

Jordan Lippman was the only other Tiger in double figures, connecting on 7 of 17 from the floor for 15 points and he had a team

best 12 rebounds.

Jared Embry scored 30 points, Michael Saladin had 26 and Ruben Monzon added 24 as the Saints (4-9) pulled out the high-scoring home victory over the 22nd-ranked Rams (8-3).

Our Lady of the Lake outscored Wesleyan 20-11 in the second overtime.

The Saints made 44 of 77 shots (57.1%) from the field and 18 of 31 (58.1%) from long range.

Brandeis graduate and UTEP transfer Kobe Magee led six Rattlers scoring in double figures with 25 points in the home victory over the Swedes (6-9).

Dylan Isenhower had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and both he and Magee each had four assists for St. Mary’s (6-4) in the nonconfere­nce game.
