» Randolph rolls to easy win over San Antonio Christian.

Quick take: Thursday’s contest between San Antonio Christian and Randolph was the kind of game that could only happen in 2020. San Antonio Christian was finally getting to play its season opener, and Randolph was playing its fourth game of the season. The edge in experience might have helped the Ro-hawks as they rolled to a 48-0 victory.

Randolph racked up 367 yards of offense in the first half while holding the Lions to 85 to take a 34-0 lead at halftime. Randolph finished the night with 555 yards of total offense, picking up 437 of those yards on the ground with eight different RoHawks recording a carry. San Antonio Christian finished with 175 yards of total offense.

Highlights: Five of the Ro-hawks’ seven touchdowns were 20 yards or longer.

Randolph quarterbac­k Samgier at connected on 41- and 39-yard passes for the first two touchdowns. Colton Howard scored from 80 and 24 yards out. Lezerrick Banks added the final three touchdowns for Randolph on runs of 1, 12 and 64 yards.

San Antonio Christian had a 16-yard touchdown pass from joel Allen to Evan Russell waived off because of a holding penalty in the second quarter.

What it means: For San Antonio Christian, itwas a good test to start their season and prepare them for TAPPS play. Randolph improved to 3-1 and moved closer to 400 wins in program history. The Rohawks now have 396 wins all-time, and head coach Pete wesp moved one game over .500 at Randolph with a career mark of 138-137 in 27 seasons.

Game balls: Howard led the way with 181 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Banks had 13 carries for 132 yards and three touchdowns. Banks also caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Gierat. Also of note was Tre’von Moore, who ran the ball seven times for 75 yards. Gierat only threw the ball five times, but three of those were completed and two went for scores. Besides the touchdown to Banks, Gierat found John Allen open from 41 yards out for the first score of the night. Gierat also handled the kicking duties, making six of his seven extra point attempts. San Antonio Christian quarterbac­k Joel Allen was 9 of 20 for 99 yards passing and also had an average of 36.2 yards per punt. Collin Sigmon led the Lions with 29 yards rushing.

Up next: Both teams open their district schedules at 7:30 p.m. Friday against longtime rivals. San Antonio Christian will be at Antonian, while Randolph will host Cole.
