“Sylvie’s Love”: Music is central to several of this season’s notable movies, including “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” Pixar’s “Soul” and “Lover’s Rock” from director Steve Mcqueen’s “Small Axe” anthology. Add the jazzand R&b-drenched romance “Sylvie’s Love” to the list.

The movie is centered on Sylvie (Tessa Thompson), a young woman in 1950s Harlem who finds love, a family and her dream career in TV are within her reach, but not all at once.

Now streaming on Amazon Prisme.

New — Blu-ray reissue

“Resident Evil: The Complete Collection”: The family that slays together stays together — at least in the case of actress Milla Jovovich and her husband, director Paul W.S. Anderson. Before their box office-topping “Monster Hunter,” they collaborated on the “Resident Evil” franchise, also adapted from a popular video game.

This box set includes 4K ultrahigh definition versions of all six movies, critic-proof special effects splatterfests in which Alice ( Jovovich) defends an ever-dwindling remnant of humanity from zombies, mutant dogs and ruthless businessmen after a virus is released in an underground lab.

Notable — Binge watch

“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”: Netflix’s “Riverdale”

adjacent horror series has come a long way in a short time. A gothic high-school melodrama about a teenage witch (Kiernan Shipka) who wants to be normal

and good, though fate has something else in store for her, has grown into a hellacious epic of evil vs. other evil, with eldritch terrors and something called “The Void” now threatening not just Greendale but the world.

Fans of the “Sabrina” sitcom need to know this version comes with much more satanism and sick humor (Aunt Zelda never roasted a child for the Dark Lord on ABC).

Seasons one to three streaming on Netflix; season four debuts Thursday.

Also: The Melissa Joan Hart sitcom “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” is available on Hulu and CBS All Access.
