Bradley joining Brewers

-

Center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr., arguably baseball’s top remaining free agent, has agreed to a two-year, $24 million contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Bradley would have the right to opt out after one year and $13 million.

He’ll join the Brewers well into spring training, which started in midfebruary. Opening day is April 1.

Bradley turns 31 on April 19 and is regarded as an elite defensive center fielder. He won a Gold Glove in 2018 and led the American League in assists by a center fielder in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019.

He also has some pop in his bat, hitting a tworun homer and a grand slam to earn series MVP honors as the Red Sox beat the Astros in the 2018 American League Championship Series.

Bradley hit .283 with seven homers and 22 RBIS in 2020 but has been streaky at the plate over the course of his career, hitting .239 over eight seasons, all with Boston.
