- By Jacob Beltran and Taylor Pettaway

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified two people found dead of an apparent murder-suicide inside a North Side home last week.

Azucena Nelson and Todd Owen Hafer were found at about 4 p.m. on April 6 in the 2000 block of Chittim Trail Drive, investigators said.

Nelson, 49, and Hafer, 53, each died from a gunshot wound to the head, investigators said. The medical examiner's office listed Nelson's death as a homicide and Hafer's death as a suicide.

A 911 caller said Hafer had not been heard from for about two days, nor had he logged in for work, states a San Antonio police report released Monday.

An officer responded and was checking the perimeter of the house when he looked through a window and saw two bodies. He then discovered the rear entrance to the home was slightly ajar and went inside.

The report states that the inside of the house appeared to be “mostly empty” from the process of either moving or emptying out its contents. Police said there were cardboard boxes in the entryway.

After securing the house, the officer examined the master bedroom where Hafer's body was. The officer saw a black handgun on the ground at Hafer's feet with one spent shell casing next to it.

Nelson's body was on the bathroom floor, the report states, and a fragment of a bullet was inside the bathtub.

Police have said they are not looking for any suspects in the case, and it appears to have been an isolated incident.
