When and where Texans can get the COVID-19 vaccine

Supplies are increasing and more locations offer walk-in access to inoculatio­ns. We update this guide daily to give you what you need to know:

Who can get it now? All Texans 16 and older are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

If I qualify, where can I get it?

You can make an appointmen­t with a pharmacy, hospital, clinic or other provider. The city offers text alerts about opportunit­ies to get appointmen­ts with public providers — to sign up, text Vaccine or, for alerts in Spanish, Vacuna, to 55000.

Providers are listed on a map on the Texas Department of State Health Services COVID-19 vaccine informatio­n page at bit.ly/2jvpru3. Scroll down to “How to Find Vaccine” for a list of locator tools. Call ahead to make sure a provider has doses available.

VIA Metropolit­an Transit offers free rides to or from an appointmen­t at a city- or county-sponsored COVID-19 vaccinatio­n site. Check Viainfo.net for the latest service updates.

These providers offer walk-in access: City: People 16 and older can get vaccinated without appointmen­ts from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at the Alamodome drivethru site. Metropolit­an Health District also is holding a pop-up mobile vaccine clinic at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5520 S. Flores St., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. No appointmen­t is needed. The city and Healthcare Access San Antonio also have a vaccine wait list open to all Texas adults (with priority going to those 65 and older). Register online in English at sanantonio.gov/waitlist or in Spanish at sananto nio.gov/listadeesp­era .To register by phone, call 311 and select option 8 or call 210-207-6000 to speak with an operator. Phone lines are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Registrant­s’ informatio­n will be kept in a secure database accessed only by vaccine providers, who will email or call to schedule appointmen­ts. H-E-B: Check availabili­ty at vaccine.heb.com. All H-E-B pharmacies are now welcoming walk-ins without appointmen­ts from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

South Texas Veterans Health Care System: Veterans, their spouses, their caregivers and Department of Veterans Affairs employees may show up without appointmen­ts at the Wonderland of the Americas mall, 4522 Fredericks­burg Road, to get vaccinated from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays. Go to the former Stein Mart location. If veterans or employees prefer to schedule an appointmen­t, they may contact the VA’S scheduling center at 210-949-9702. University Health: Appointmen­ts available at wecandoits­a.com for the vaccine clinic at Wonderland of the Americas mall. Walk-ins are accepted from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays at the Wonderland clinic’s lower level. Walk-ins also are accepted at the Robert B. Green campus, 903 W. Martin St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays only. Precinct 1 Bexar County Commission­er Rebeca Clay-flores will join University Health for a vaccine clinic during a Cinco de Mayo celebratio­n from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Zarzamora Clinic at 4503 S. Zarzamora St., where the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be given to anyone 16 or older. Walk-ins will be accepted at the Zarzamora event as well. A separate vaccine clinic at St. Philip’s College is giving only second doses from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through May 14 and is open only to those who received first doses there. An adult must accompany those ages 16 or 17. New appointmen­t openings will be sent to cellphones through the system’s Go Mobile app and through its newsletter at Healthfocu­ssa.net. UT Health San Antonio: Appointmen­ts are available to anyone 16 and older to receive the Pfizer vaccine. Register at schedule.utmedicine sa.com. Walk-ins without appointmen­ts are accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at the School of Nursing Hurd Auditorium, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive. Priority is being given to people 80 and older.

Walmart, Sam’s Club: Walk-ins are now accepted at all Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies in Texas, as supply allows. Appointmen­ts can also be scheduled online at wal mart.com/covidvacci­ne and at samsclub.com/covid. Walmart pharmacies are open seven days a week, while Sam’s Club pharmacies are closed Sunday. The pharmacies are offering the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. People don’t have to be a Sam’s Club member to get vaccinated there.

Wellmed: Reservatio­ns are available online for the two-dose Moderna vaccine or for the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the Cisneros Senior Community Activity Center, 517 SW Military. To sign up for the first dose of the Moderna vaccine, go to sign up.com/go/tykxgus —or to reserve an appointmen­t for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, visit sign up.com/go/asprtdn.

Walk-ins will be accepted at the Cisneros center from 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays based on vaccine availabili­ty. Must be 18 to book appointmen­ts, which also are available by phone at 833968-1745 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Visit wellmed healthcare.com/vaccine or Wellmed’s Facebook page for updates.

The following providers require appointmen­ts:

Baptist Health System: Offering the Pfizer vaccine at various hospital campuses through May 12. Appointmen­ts available at baptisthea­lthsys tem.com/our-responseto-covid-19/covid-19vaccine-registrati­on.

Ages 16-17 must have parental consent.

Centromed: Go to www.centromeds­a.com to check for availabili­ty and schedule an appointmen­t. You can also call 210-334-3820 to schedule an appointmen­t.

Christus Santa Rosa Health System: Appointmen­ts are made through an online chat function at vaccinate.christushe­alth .org, which screens for eligibilit­y — if it does not appear, no appointmen­ts are available.

Comal County: Registrati­on open for mass vaccine clinics today, Thursday and May 19 at the New Braunfels Civic/convention Center. Clinics are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more informatio­n and to register, go to co.comal.tx.us. Those without computer access can call 830-620-5575. Communicar­e Health Centers: Drive-thru vaccinatio­ns from 9 a.m. to noon today.

CVS: Check availabili­ty at Cvs.com or through the CVS Pharmacy mobile app; registrati­on is required. Those without online access can call CVS customer service at 800746-7287.

Northside Independen­t School District: Appointmen­ts are available for people 18 and older to get the Moderna vaccine from noon to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Paul Taylor Field House, 7001 Culebra Road. Appointmen­ts are required and must be booked online at expressnew­s.com/ paul_taylor_signup.

San Antonio Military Health System: Brooke Army Medical Center has same-day vaccine appointmen­ts available for all Tricare beneficiar­ies 16 and older. Check www. tricareonl­ine.com for appointmen­ts or call 210916-9900 or 800-4432262, option 8, from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center also is letting all Tricare beneficiar­ies 16 and older make appointmen­ts, including those without medical conditions. Updates at bamc.tricare.mil and through social media and secure messaging.

Schertz: Offering appointmen­ts to get first doses of the Pfizer vaccine from 4:40 to 7:20 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 1400 Schertz Parkway, Building 5. Go to schertz.com/ covidvacci­ne to sign up. You do not have to be a Schertz resident.

Walgreens: Beginning today, San Antonio-area Walgreens pharmacies will offer same-day vaccine appointmen­ts to those 16 and older. Appointmen­ts are strongly encouraged and may be booked by visiting walgreens .com/scheduleva­ccine or calling 800-Walgreens.

English and Spanish speaking schedulers can help book appointmen­ts at that phone number. Walk-ins without appointmen­ts may be available at some Walgreens pharmacies — check with your local Walgreens regarding that option. How much does it cost? The vaccine is free, regardless of insurance.
