AT&T Center back to pre-virus capacity
Capacity limits, face masks and social distancing are a thing of the past at the AT&T Center.
The sports and entertainment venue said Monday the pandemic-era limits were being lifted as it “kicks off summer.”
The 18,500-seat venue’s first event without the health protocols: Jermell Charlo versus Brian Castaño, a boxing match set for July 17. It’s the first of about 20 events on the schedule into early next year.
While the home of the Spurs is doing away with limits, some processes — like cashless and touchless ticketing and purchases — will remain. Enhanced sanitation and air purification will continue as well. Xenex UV robots for surface cleaning will remain on the job, too.
Face masks and temperature checks are no longer required for entrance, but guests who are not fully vaccinated or live with someone with an increased risk for illness are encouraged to wear face coverings.
It’s another step toward postpandemic normalcy for the AT&T Center, which was shuttered in March 2020 after suspension of the NBA season. The venue welcomed Spurs fans back to games exactly a year later with limited capacities.
Monday, AT&T Center Vice President and General Manager
Casey Heverling said he’s looking forward to seeing the arena filled again.
“We’re so proud of the role we play in helping to create moments that excite, especially as the community begins to rediscover live experiences,” he said in a statement. “We are excited to once again hear and see our fans cheering in the AT&T Center for the first time since March 10, 2020.”
